    I guess it would be too much to ask to get the Jews in on this? Oh, I guess that would take away the Muslim's most important target - Jerusalem.

  • Atheists 'Evangelizing' in America; How Christians Can Respond

    Merkin,

    Please allow me to address the 3 points you made:

    (1)Homophobia
    A lot of anti-Christian groups love to spout this catchphrase. The literal interpretation of homophobia is a fear of homosexuals. Christians are not afraid of homosexuals. You are over exaggerating our disapproval of a behavior to place it in a negative light.

    (2) Constriction of women's rights
    In Genesis, the bible tells us that woman was made from the rib of Adam. Not his head, not his foot, but from his side. That would put the woman as an equal to man. Women should be able to do anything a man can but, just as the man, she should put her family above anything else except God. That includes her career.

    (3) Subversion of science education
    I’m guessing that you are talking about our opposition to the religion of evolution being taught in our classrooms. I say only this; present true evidence of the ‘missing’ link that ties two distinct species together and you can teach all the evolution you want.

    The point is not to give you a warm fuzzy feeling about being a Christian. That's not what our religion is about. The point of Christianity is to show people their need for a Savior and that God has given them a way to eternal life. The desire for a Savior comes through showing sin for what it is, transgression of God's law. When a sinner sees his or her sin, and the price of that sin, they will cry out for forgiveness. Forgiveness comes thorough Christ alone. It's just that simple.

    Frankly, Citizen, I think most self-respecting apologists wouldn't bother with Brian Sapient and his RRS lackeys simply because it is a waste of time. Sapient and Co. have such adamant hatred for Chritianity that they have closed their minds to the possibility of anything greater than themselves. It's called self-rightousness and it's plaguing this nation. If you have no one to live for other than yourself, than there is no accountability. Much like a yound child who thinks that the world only extends to that which he can observe, there is no convincing the RRS that there is anything beyond their front door.

  • Study: Christianity No Longer Looks Like Jesus

    Prophet:
    ::quote::
    Jesus never condemned a sinner for their sin.
    ::end quote::

    Matthew 19:16-22 (NASB)
    16 And someone came to Him and said, "Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may obtain eternal life?" 17 And He said to him, "Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments." 18 Then he said to Him, "Which ones?" And Jesus said, "YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT MURDER; YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY; YOU SHALL NOT STEAL; YOU SHALL NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS; 19 HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER; and YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF." 20 The young man said to Him, "All these things I have kept; what am I still lacking?" 21 Jesus said to him, "If you wish to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me." 22 But when the young man heard this statement, he went away grieving; for he was one who owned much property."

    Jesus didn't have to condemn the rich young ruler. God's Law did the condemning. Jesus used the law to show that that man loved money and that he was violating the first commandment. Never once did Jesus say, "I love you and so I'm going to forgive your sins". It took conviction under the Law and repentance for Jesus to grant forgiveness. Christians should not be condemning sinners. It's not our place. But the love, mercy and grace that were demonstrated at the Cross won't make sense to sinners unless they first understand sin.

    Romans 7:7 (NASB)
    What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? May it never be! On the contrary, I would not have come to know sin except through the Law; for I would not have known about coveting if the Law had not said, "YOU SHALL NOT COVET."

    "soldiers diaries, official requisition forms, official presidential documents" Again, you are relying on written documentation that someone might have forged. Pictures? Hundreds of people have claimed to take authentic photos of UFOs (before Photoshop even). I'm not saying that the civil war didn't occur, it did, but if you are willing to go on evidence that did not come from your direct observation, that takes faith. I just know that the bible is historic, contains factual information and is a trustworthy source.

    Citizen I'm assuming sometime in your life you've taken a history class. i'm sure they gave you a texbook and that you took the material it contained as historical fact. Why would you do such a thing? You weren't there to observe the events that the book describes. It is more than likely that the author was not there either! You are taking a serious step of FAITH in believe the words of a MAN. I, for one, find it very improbable that a country would fight against itself due to "the massive inconvenience involved and the existence of alternatives" but it doesn't change the fact that a civil war occurred in this country.

    1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (NIV)
    "9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
    10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."

    How is this taken out of context, Josiah? It seems pretty clear to me...

    That's right Lex! Tolerance is acceptable only if the behavior is acceptable. If a mother is tolerant of her child's misbehavior, is that a positive thing? Maybe to the child who wishes not to get punished but to those harmed by the child, it is totally unacceptable. Society today is much like that child.

    I'd love to see a lawyer take the case for the defense. There is more proof of man causing his own destruction than God. Frankly, I'd countersue for defamation of character on the basis of the ultimate demonstration of love for humankind that was the gift of the Cross.

    Wasn't marriage supposed to symbolize the union that Christ has with His church? What kind of message are the White's sending to their congregation? They are supposed to be shepherds to their flock and they are teaching that it is 'okay' to divorce if your lives are going in different paths.

    I see no sign of conviction of the Holy Spirit, no repentance, no sign of being soundly saved. If I were a member of their church, I'd think twice about remaining there with them in the lead.
