  • Catholic Church Insists on Disclaimer in Angels and Demons Movie

Oh the irony to insist upon a disclaimer. Maybe we should insist upon a disclaimer that the Bible is only a work of fiction intermingled with history. I found a good one at:

I also heard that the Alchemist Institute is going to sue the Board for discriminating against them for promoting a chemical "theory" only agenda. The agenda by the board to not allow accreditation for faith based belief systems is just one more step toward totalitarianism. I mean what next? Will they not accept the Norse, Mayan, Apache, and Hawaiian creation stories as well?!!! This is intolerable!! Who do these "scientists" think they are to deny people the right to produce diploma mills with state sanctioned accreditation since many people now believe and many have believed these stories very dogmatically in the past. "Scientists" and their so called evidence based decision making. Bleh. If the "scientists" don't like it they can move to N. Korea or Atlantis.

Where did Jesus say homosexuality is a sin in the New Testament? As far as I am aware he never mentioned it. Of course homosexuality was called an abomination in the old testament along with eating shellfish.

Every religious sect throws out miracles as confirmation of their beliefs. Jehovah Witness's, Mormon's, seventh day Adventist's, Baptist's, Catholics, etc. They all tout theirs and dismiss others. There are more books to read in this world besides the bible and what your preacher tells you want be temptation from satan. It's painful to question one's faith. The most painful thing that I ever went through. But freeing my mind from superstition and false beliefs was worth the pain. Freedom is not free.

Wow! I'm convinced now. That quote out of national geographic online is just unimpeachable. JHow many times can some christian archaeologist claim to see something and insist (98%!!!) that it's the ark. Think about all the claims in the past. Wow if there is something on Mt. Ararat then it must be the ark right? I mean if there is evidence of a flood somewhere it must be the Noahide deluge correct? It must be, I need something to soustain my belief besides just getting a funny feeling when I pray. How often i have been there. i hope you don't bring up the Shroud of turin next. then again...

    What makes a cult?
    1) Absolute faith in a flawless leader
    2) To question the dictates is not allowed
    3) Donate your life, money, freedom to it
    4) It creates an emotional tie by inclulcating children from before they can think for themselves so as to equate with accepting it as unimpeachable to living a complete and happy life

    Do these sound familiar?

Jesus Freak, too many miracles? Seriously? You are assuming one ridiculous part of the bible can be used to justify belief in other ridiculous parts of the bible. Please read "Encyclopedia of Biblical Errancy" by C. Dennis McKinsey

JesusFreak123 - Let me guess the illuminatti and bigfoot are keeping the evidence from being brought to light by the general public. Conspiracy theory websites like answersingenisis and arkonararat only show how deluded such beliefs are. I wonder if they taught you about the Epic of Gilgamesh and how the story of Noah's are is preceded by it in Sunday School. Probably taught you that the devil will do anything to deceive you, anything from having to admit that you might be wrong. I was rasied a fundy and when I realized the same brainwashing techinques were used on me as other fundy religion (e.g. Mormonism, Islam, other Christian faiths) I discovered liberty in freedom of inquiry and the beauty of excepting the world as it is and not just what makes me feel all fuzzy inside.

    abishaq98-
Your response is another example of Christian hypocrisy. Freedom and liberty does not mean you have the right to impose the way you want to live on others. Freedom and liberty means the right to live as you see fit without restricting other's rights. What a bunch of propaganda, the whole bit about Christians being discriminated against. I'm sure those were the same excuses used to kill heretics and enslave Africans. You have certainly been brain washed. Discriminate against Christians? Christians kill, persecute, ostrasize, defame, torture, and discriminate against perceived opponents to support their superstitions and then cry foul when people object. I'm glad to see your hate is circling the drain of bad ideas.

  • Why Doesn't God Take Away My Problems?

Short answer: Because Jesus, Allah, Vishnu, Ganesha, Yahwey, Xenu are imaginary and it is better to face reality than believe in superstitions no matter how comforting those might be. If you want to read a great book about dealing with the actual known universe and facing adversity read Rabbi Sherwin Wine's (founder of Humanistic Judaism) book "Staying sane in a Crzy World." I hope things turn around for the writer of the letter to Billy Graham, but the truth is the universe is indifferent to our lives and it is us who we must depend upon for happiness and meaning.

There is a reason why there are thousands of different christian churches. They are all made up. Like the differnet factions of other religions. Doesn't it say somewhere in the bible if two or more believers pray about something god will grant it? Does that mean no two true christians have ever prayed for world peace, a cure for cancer, etc.? Nothing fails like prayer.

Encyclopedia Brittancica? Really? There are no contemporary accounts of Jesus. Only from those that lived way after. The mention by Herodotus is clearly a christian invention but the same goes for the account in Matthew where the writer blames the Jews by putting the words in their mouths about letting his blood be put upon their shoulders. Very anti-semitic but so was Paul. And misogynistic also. Is there any length a true believer will go to in order to avoid that dreadful fear of realizing one's god is just as fictioanl as the next?

The old "they wouldn't die for a lie" apologetic. Really? You are assuming the stories in the New Testament are true to prove other stories are. Oh, the reasons we come up with for justifying a belief in the ludicrous. Your apologetics are no better than the Mormon, Hindu, or Muslim. Whatever supports your view you uncritically accept and whatever doesn't you dismiss. Ask yourself this. Is there anyway that I am making the same mistakes that other believers make? Do I believe because I want to? Or do I want to believe in what is true no matter what it is?

Why is it when the christian religion is treated like other belief systems christians decry it as being singled out or as persecution? Having a privileged status is unconstitutional and the loss of privilege does not mean persecution but equality. Something christians have a hard time understanding at times. Once again evolution is the study of how life evolved not how it originated. That is Abiogenesis. It is true that science can not step infinately far back in time to say where we ultimately came from. It is not that we can not stand to hear other people say they have an answer it's just when catholics, protestants, mormons, sunni, shia, hindu, etc claim they have one and it's unjustifiable then we as evidence driven people are obligated to state the emperor has no clothes.

Let's not forget that the christmas tree is a pagan symbol and to display it is to invite Satan into your life. To be a true christian is to follow the word of god unreservedly. Read Jeremiah chapter 10 verses 1-5

1Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:
2Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
3For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
4They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
5They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.

Aritonang, "to all the Jews and Jewess"? really? At least you waited to get offline before you went off on some barbaric racist tirade. I think the Jewish faith should take to the world the demonstrable facts that Jesus is not the true Messiah but a lie of Satan. He did not fulfill the OT scriptures and Satan has fulled the Christians ever since. Read David Klninghoffer's "Why the Jews rejected Jesus". Why else would there be over 30,000 different and contradictory christian sects around the world if Satan didn't begin it with a lie?

"Wisdom from the spirit." I never met a mormon, muslim, hindu, protestant, catholic, that didn't use "spiritual" wisdom as a defense for the fact it is just made up.

Yes I have heard of Josh Mcdowells books. I actually have most of them. They are convincing to you just like mormon, muslim, and others apologetics are convincing for them. I believe Robert Price has a book coming out soon that rebuts Mcdowell's arguments.

Recall what jesus said Matthew 5:22 "...but whoever shall say, thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire". A true christian would not have ignored the words of christ. It's so easy to spot the ex-christians and atheists trying to bring our kingdom down.

    mk8:34 and igh,
I have read that book. I don't just read books that complement the way I think but challenge me. spanking?? Eternal torture in a fiery pit is a bit more than a spanking it is torture. For mere disbelief. What does it say about your god that he has to threaten people with eternal torture for not believing? I read a lot of religious books and not just christian ones. Redeemed, you say god created everything including mathematics. Could god change the value of pi or 1+1=2 ? It seems you think so. How could they be different? You have a very true believer mentality. Toadying and groveling at the feet of your god hoping that the day you die you will get to stroke his ego for eternity with praises and glory. I think that hinduism is just as false as christianity and islam. You trot out the absurdities and atrocities of hinduism and i'm sure most hindu's would claim that those weren't "true" hindu's just as i'm sure you claim that christians that committ similar atrocities aren't "true" christians. You are steeped in your apologetics and don't realize how similar they are to those of other religions. You blame satan for anything that opposes your particular christian concepts like other christians, muslims, mormons, chatholics, protestants, seventh day adventists, jehovah witness's, and the thousands of others. Fear is your motivator and it seethes from your lips.
