  • Crystal Cathedral Bans Homosexuality in Choir

It sounds to me like this covenant is as it should be. It's Biblical. It's not just talking about homosexuality. It's talking about any form of sexual expression that is out of the God-given design of one man/one woman in marriage. It is as much asking heterosexuals not to engage in pre-marital or extra-marital sex. I am all for asking people in positions of leadership including music to live a...more

SBellam, why so cynical? Faith and intelligence are not incompatible things.

  • Calif. Pastor: End of the World Is Near, Really

Just because things happen by chance doesn't mean God can't use them to his purpose. I think the thought about making "a real time meaningful witness to a nonChristian nation" does mean helping the country in practical ways. The churches are always the first to respond to disasters anywhere in the world.

  • Rob Bell Gets Evangelicals Talking about Hell

Jesus doesn't rescue us from God. He rescues us from sin and the Devil.

  • Breaking All the Rurals: A Look at One Pastor's Calling into Rural America

Just another comment. A fair number of people have said I am wasting my time doing this. I do not believe that God thinks so.

  • Breaking All the Rurals: A Look at One Pastor's Calling into Rural America

Why do you think O'Dell does not have a genuine call? I am called to work specifically with declining churches to help them renew. Do you also think that means I also do not have a genuine call from God? Sorry, I just don't see where you are coming from.

So expand on this a little more. What makes you think God isn't with this man being in a rural location?

  • Toronto Bishop Makes Room for Same-Sex Blessings

Sadly, we live in an age where some churches want the forgiveness and grace of God without repentance and even more no need to acknowledge sin.

Norman, if you think Jesus was a great man but nothing more, you don't know God.

  • How Would You Encourage a Burned-Out Pastor?

Of course, pastors can and should desire to enjoy their ministry, but please don't call it Christian Hedonism. The mere use of that term makes it sound like there is something wrong with the desire and there isn't.

  • How Would You Encourage a Burned-Out Pastor?

I find the term, Christian Hedonism, to be a poor choice for a pastor's desire to enjoy his or her ministry. The author lost my enthusiasm with that choice of words.

  • Few Americans Give Churches Good Grades for Handling of Homosexuality

Rhi Bran said: Yep God is still as upset with people wearing clothing woven of two fabrics as he was back in Leviticus. You shrimp eating, lobster loving abomination folk be warned. This is a worn-out argument that has never had a thing to do with sexual morality.

  • Miners Clad in Jesus Shirts Give Glory to God

I found it interesting when a reporter told how faith brought the miners through a terrible situation how ABC News played it out. The reporter said that all the miners agreed that there was a 34th person in the cave with them: a higher power. Diane Sawyer immediately commented, "Yes, God was definitely there." • IRS Complaint Filed Against Okla. Church Over Pulpit Politics

That wasn't the case until Lyndon Johnson, then a senator, got mad at religious organizations that weren't supporting him. He made sure that would never happen again. Frankly, Johnson should have got away with that.
