Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (JN 8:32)

When I spoke of the college professor in the post below, I was referring to the one who gave his "last lecture" because he knew he was going to die. And he went around promoting his world view of how others should live their lives. Isn't that a belief? Isn't that forcing it on others? What's the difference? If I heard a message like that, I don't see how it would be any more or less offensive than someone who's christian speaking on how they feel people should be motivated to live out their lives...

I thought this article was about their speeches, not about them praying. I don't see anything wrong with them speaking at their own graduation. I remember when there was that college professor who...i think spoke at graduation (I could be wrong). But it doesn't matter, because every motivational speaker who speaks pushes their own beliefs on how people should live their lives on EVERY single listener in there anyway. I for one would rather hear something that's motivated from what Christ has done in someone's life, rather than the selfish ambitions from a worldly perspective of get yours, live up life, and then you die anywayzzz.
Besides, doesn't any Christian follow Matthew 28:17-20?? ;)

Don't really mean to totally miss the point of your post...but if we're talking about human beings apart from Christ... James was actually the head of the church, not Peter. But as Christians, we typically acknowledge neither as being the head, because Christ is the head. I honestly believe that the church will never die, because it's not God's plan for it to die. But if we're talking denominations, PCUSA can start by backing and affirming Biblical Truth, then teach it's people how to give a Biblical gospel, and the Holy Spirit will respond by regenerating Biblical Christians who come to church because they want to give glory and honor God ... and not as a ritual. And if that were the case... we really wouldn't care about our numbers, because we'd have genuine followers who love God, His will for our lives, and His Word. The result of genuine Christians will produce genuine fruit such as feeding the poor, pro-life, pro marriage (as God defined it in scripture). But if we don't have genuine conversions because we don't proclaim a genuine gospel that's honored by the Holy Spirit... well, of course our numbers will dwindle because the message that's being preached during a sunday service isn't what an carnal person wants to hear. Just my two... possibly three cents =)

I think Mr. Falwell is right to be defensive. The policy is based on his faith, the Bible, and the principles and values that the school was built on. Aren't we called to be defensive when it comes to our faith and keeping it pure?
"I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints. For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ. " (Jude 3-4)
On our own we are little more than bits of stone and glass. Together we are the Body of Christ. Holy Bible: Mosaic is an invitation to experience Christ in His Word and in the responses of his people. Each week, as you reflect on guided Scripture readings aligned with the church seasons, you will receive a wealth of insight from historical and contemporary writings.
