I can tell you that Senator Grassley has a good heart and good intentions. I used to go to church with him when we lived in Iowa. He is a fellow Christian and wants to see things done correctly.

I am so glad this young woman was brave enough to take this kind of risk for her new faith. I wish I was that brave even in sharing my faith around the neighborhood and around my office. What a different world this would be if Christians were more vocal and more willing to be considered an outcast for the sake of Jesus!

I am so thankful that people did not tell my husband he had an illness when he was struggling with addiction. Instead we as a tean received counseling from a pastor who made it clear to us that through Christ's ultimate power, he wasn't a "victim." My husband needed to stay away from temptation and have a strong accountability network, but through Christ freedom IS possible. Intense time in the Bible and prayer have been greatly helpful in keeping his mind occupied on the right things.
If we believe that habitual sins cannot be overcome, then we really believe Christ's power is very limited. It's also important to remember 1 Corinthians 10:13 which tell us that each of these temptations are "commone to man." We often think we are the only one with a certain strong temptation. That's what drives us to secrecy. When we know we aren't alone and discover that others like us have found freedom through Christ, that's when we we find real hope.
