oprah is exactly right. the same God that createdour magnificent varied world and its 700 sects of Christians, a variety of beauty across all the species in diverse array, and commonalities among all the religious practices that seek God as the source of all that is good, loves, values and guides every single being who seeks the path of righteousness.
sadly, zealots in all religions belive that only they have a monopoly on God.
there is an old jain parable in which ioo blind people are touching different parts of an elephant. each describes their piece of the whole as the entire creature.
It is a tragedy that people want to make the communtiy of belivers an exclusive club reserved for their gang.
Christians are the most split up religion int he world, they all fight woith each other.
Oly a true believer like Oprah has the sense and magnanimity of spirit to replace evil(childhood abuse) with demonstrated Love and spiritual generoosity (so called new age).
why do we not stop trying to reduce and devalue otehrs for their beliefs and instead try to understand and respect them.
Oprah si at elast a sholy as the Godd samritan, and probably a lot holier than many ofthe holier than thous on this Board.

What a fine opinion pice by Chuck Colson on Politics, religion, and the Common Good. as amuslim I am most appreciative of his transcendent vision and heart "that magnifies the Lord".

Amen or Ameen, Mr. Colson. Ina country with so many bright, honest, caring and excellent people, why can we not encure that no mattre who wins we have leadership that we'll be proud of and for which we will also be grateful.

The arrogance of those who judge and make themselves experts on what God wants for others to do, rather than work on themselves...kills souls deader than any single other source of toxicity except lust or addicitions, icnluding to money power and lies.

Rather than share their love for the poor (all of the poor, or vulnerable-- see the Beatitudes) there are the hypocrites who hoard up their charitable currency and only squeeze out compassion for those they feel are deservoing.

Souls reflecting the magnanimty and mercy of God shine out as examples for us and show the path to God. Jimmy Carter, Archbishop Romero, Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela: we are lucky we have lived in a time so rich in people of great and good spirit...ther are so many.

When i see the bigots whinging on this page and claiming they can judge the way to God by demonizing a good and holy man, who has used his life to help others and can only be admoired for his simplicity and honesty, as well as his untiring unflagging spirit and truthfulness even when it is umpopular...then i feel strongly that sorrow that comes form the walls we humans raise to protect ourselves from goodness and decency, all the while claiming we are being scripturally sound in our chariness. so claimed the pharisees and sadducees.such blind judgementalism is the mark of a hypocrite.

Jimmy Carter is for sure no hypocrite.
