Presbyterians should stand for orthodox Christian values. Scripture should define society...not society defining scripture.

With the stated belief that Jesus Christ is not the only path to salvation illustrates just how far from orthodox Christian teachings the Episcopal Church has strayed. With this type of heresy being bandied about as "doctrine"... It is incredible to me that the Episcopal Church can call itself a "Christian" denomination. It has quite obviously degenerated into something quite less than Christianity. There is NO support for the Episcopal idea of salvation through other means than Christ. To believe so is folly and shows the superficialities being espoused by such erroneous doctrine. They have lost the mourning of sin that marks a genuine "church" and have exchanged what is good and right with what is debased and un-natural. It would be good to pray for those embroiled in the Episcopal heresies. To pray that they would find their way out of this error and return to the body of Christ.

It's interesting when you call some folks to task after they make certain statements and they seem to have mysteriously left. Perhaps he or she is simply putting the final touches on a comeback that is just so mind-boggling that it will obliterate our frail psyches. Sorry...i couldn't resist.

Where did JCIS go? Let's have a dialogue. Is Dialectics a lost art? Perhaps he or she is not as "enlightened" as he or she previously thought. Oh well, I'm a poor, dumb Christian who's willing to debate.

What my point is...both sides should have the grace to respect those of dissenting opinion. We all have the right to express ourselves...and a responsibility to do it tactfully. No one has the right to spew out invectives. They have only one purpose...to offend. Have we become so intolerant that we cannot bear a little difference of opinion? Have we not the grace to support our own natures?

JCIS- So what makes atheism any less "selfish" than Christianity? Don't we have the same right to speak in public and "offend" you folks as you have to do the same to us? Seems to me that it is more selfish. Perhaps you can enlighten my poor,Christian, Ignorant mind. <- last part your words...not mine.

Sure...she has a right to say what she wants to. The problem is that she proved that she had no tact or respect for others of different beliefs when she made the "Suck it, Jesus" statement. That shows her for what she and many other "militant atheists" are... just plain mad at anything that is related to religion and at anyone who dares to espouse a a religious belief. It's easy to flagrantly hurl invectives at folks...it takes a lot more finesse and class to have a dialogue with your perceived "enemy" that you disagree with.

To accept homosexuality as a social norm would be the same as casting our lot in with them. There can be no doubt that God is calling His own to Him. When we supplant what is natural and good from our Father with what is unnatural and debased... We accept a lie in substitution for the Truth. We need to strongly protest this kind of behavior and teach those embroiled in this sinful activity of the precariousness of their situation. This we should do in the spirit of Christian love. Those that do not repent will become as the chaff in the wheat that is scattered and blown away. Not my judgement...just what is related in scripture. It is a deep sadness that any should be lost. Best to make the line that seaparates the lambs from the goats VERY clear lest we be carried off as well.

The issue is that we are trying to conform scripture to current social trends. It should be just the opposite. We should be trying to conform social trends to scripture. As Christians... We are called to love all. We are also human...with defects and flaws. It is possible to preach the error of homosexuality and still treat practicing homosexuals with Christian love and understanding. Love the sinner (for we all are sinners...), but detest the sin.

On our own we are little more than bits of stone and glass. Together we are the Body of Christ. Holy Bible: Mosaic is an invitation to experience Christ in His Word and in the responses of his people. Each week, as you reflect on guided Scripture readings aligned with the church seasons, you will receive a wealth of insight from historical and contemporary writings.
