  • Growing Intolerance for Christianity in U.S.

There are a lot of right-wing Christians in America with a persecution complex, and this article is a great example of it. There are a lot of right-wing Christians in America with a persecution complex, and this article is a great example of it. If you google the details on all of the examples above, you will see they are riddled with outright lies and misinformation. Just for example, Klingenschmitt was court-martialed and kicked out of the military for wearing his uniform to a partisan right-wing event. It was a willful violation of a direct order. Klingenschmitt prayed in Jesus name many times without any problem; that is not why he was kicked out. http://blog.au.org/2007/04/05/a-matter-of-honor-the-truth-comes-out-about-former-chaplain-klingenschmitt/ http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/09/14/AR2006091401544.htmlI don't have time today to google every one of these lies; this was just the first one I looked at. You can be sure the facts are distorted in every case. The Supreme Court is packed with Christians; not a single atheist in the bunch, and the majority are right-wing Christians to boot. The idea that Christians are persecuted in America today is laughable. They just think they are persecuted because they can't dictate their religion to everyone like they used to be able to do.It's called SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE. A bedrock principle of any TRUE DEMOCRACYless

But... but... the "good Christians" were only trying to show the Jewish family the truth! They should have responded positively to physical attacks and death threats in the name of Jesus! How dare they complain about such loving acts! [/sarcasm]

not-so-savvy: Don't ignore that fact that Fascist Germany and Italy were absolutely Christian. If the previous 2000 years of Christians engaging in persecution had had the modern weapons available to the dictators of the 20th Century, genocide caused by Christians would number in the billions.

Kingsmen, it's not about your non-existent "god", it's about its judgmental followers like you who think they are somehow divinely privileged to dictate how the rest of us are required to live our lives. It's YOU and your illegitimate privilege that needs to be destroyed. If you can't live your faith and leave the rest of us alone, don't complain when you get struck by the backlash.

Not too much different from Army soldiers being ordered to attend a Christian concert or be put on barracks lockdown. But somehow I see this getting more press because Christians aren't getting their way here...

@Biblemoth: I really don't understand the utter snottiness of the Christian posters on this site. Actually, I look at posts by Christians on other sites and I see quite a few commonalities:

They are smug and arrogant in the illusion of their superior intellect.
They are horribly insulting to the beliefs, values and cares of atheists, which runs afoul of their argument that they can indeed be "good with God."
They make unsupportable accusations against "atheism" and generalize about atheists in ways they would decry as unethical if said generalizations were directed towards them.
They are forever psychotically demanding unsupported belief in a transcendent Being.
They monotonously, nauseatingly repeat their rantings against atheism while making no substantiated claims of their own, or for that matter, contributing little but digital excreta on the internet.

On just about every level, the behavior of on-line Christians reeks of adolescent rebellion.

Perhaps little Suzie in Sunday school rejected their Bible tracts and now they're angry at intellectual reasoning.

Get over yourselves. You're not that smart. Actually, you're not smart or open-minded or even "good" at all.

Looks like you're guilty of the same thing you accuse atheists of doing.less

  • Former Ala. Chief Justice Defends Traditional Marriage

Believer, that's the problem. Your "god" doesn't get to dictate secular law. Religion-based laws are unconstitutional. And most of the folks you're battling don't give a rat's backside about your "god" or what he allegedly wants. You don't want to be gay, fine. But you and your religion WILL stop interfering in the lives of others where you have no business to do so.

  • Pro-Lifers Disappointed with Tele-Abortion Decision

Funny thing - when Bill Frist made an erroneous diagnosis of Terry Schiavo via teleconference, the overjoyed Christian crackpots applauded it. But the autopsy confirmed the long-held diagnosis that her brain was, in fact, dead. So, is tele-medicine only valid when it reaches the conclusion you want to hear?

  • Christians Conflicted over Housing Rights for Gays

“There is no validity to the civil rights issue. Race is immovable, but homosexuality is a choice,” asserted Fischer. So, since Christianity is a choice, no civil rights would be violated if someone refused to rent to Christians. Someone didn't think things through, did they?

The new laws now require payments be applied first to the higher interest rate balance. That said, what you really want to do is to pay off the card with the highest interest rate first and work your way down. That will produce the most savings and balance paydown.

  • Atheists Complain of 'Spirituality' in Army's Mental Health Program

The "remedial" training is full of evangelical buzz-phrases. Anyone familiar with Christian rhetoric could not fail to see the obvious religious nature of it, despite the careful avoidance of most references to "god", and the all-too-frequent "we're not talking about religion" disclaimer at points where it is clear that they are doing exactly that.
