  • Critics of Surgeon General Nominee Blasted for Anti-Christian Bigotry

Oh, come on! Dr. James Holsinger's appointment isn't being questioned because he's a Christian. There are bajillions of Christians holding goverment office - including the residence at the White House, last time I checked. Dr. Holsinger's appointment is being questioned because he claims to be medically trained, yet - in contradiction to all of the medical evidence out there! - he believes that homosexuality is some morally corrupt choice. And, in contradiction to his medical oath, he appears to be more than willing to put his religious beliefs ahead of any medical judgements.

If this position was for military chaplain, that might be appropriate; but it's not, it's for a clearly medical position, the Surgeon General of the United States.

What part of "Surgeon General of the United States" do the defenders of this quack not understand? Do Americans really want a person who apparently believes that demons can really be cast out of people into pigs (as Jesus did), that people can be raised from the dead, and that drinking temple dust will vindicate a virgin (as specified in Leviticus) to be named to the top medical post in the United States? Puh-LEEASE.

Satan is fantasy. The Bible is fantasy. God is fantasy. Jesus is fantasy.
I'm reading this article as Mr. Palmar being upset that the fictional story of Christianity isn't getting as good as coverage as the fictional story Harry Potter? Isn't that the Pot calling the Kettle Black? JK Rowling is up-front about admitting that it's fiction; is Mr. Palmer willing to do the same?
