Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (JN 8:32)

There is no biblical basis for this thought or idea.In Genesis God cursed the land including this one.Jesus said Blessed are the peace makers, the poor in spirit, and those persecuted in His name.None of these are discriptions of America.America is and will continue to be a part of this world until the LORD returns,so it can not possibly be a truly "christian"Nation. No nation with a human head can be a christian nation no matter haw much they claim to be.

I found the forum to be very informitive. While Mr.Obame seemed to sincerely try to explain his relationship with Jesus to a nation where 12% still think he is a muslim(because of a middle name he had no choice in recieving),John McCain used his hour to shout repeated sound bytes and feint sorrow for infidelity in his first marriage.

Megachurches really have no biblical basis for existance. The new testament church took place in homes and synagoges. For the most part megachurches preach prosperity, and materialism. All they really seem to be is "christian"theemed malls with book stores that feature the main pastors latest best seller, coffee shops,TV studios, and ministry marketing centers with a few sermons a week tossed in.It is hard to find one that doesn't have some sort of scandal associated with it,either sexual or financial in nature. And finally you have to ask how can someone be a responsible shephard for a flock of thousands and answer to the Father for his actions?Megachurches are just to worldly to have a positive effect for the kingdom of God.

Swordbearer,if you put your prosperity above Gods word by all means give it up,and hastily!!First this is a form of idolitry.Second Jesus Himself told us to store up our treasure in heaven.Jesus also asked what good does it do for a man to gain the whole world only to lose his soul?Jesus came to serve all mankind.Who is served by the prosperity gospel except our selves?

I find Kenneth Copeland wanting seperation of church and state at this time quite ironic.Prosperity preaching has no basis in scripture,Jesus said blessed are the poor in spirit, and the meek shall inherit the earth. There is none of this taught in these mega-church/TV ministries. As for Creflo Dollar anyone truly doing kingdom business has no fear of the light and will not hide their work in the darkness. These people are supposed to be Christ ambassadors on earth. They are supposed to live lives as close to the life that He lived in His time on earth as anyone does. They are supposed to be leading lives of love and service, not fattening themselves off of the donations of an easily led flock.
Once again we can't see the fire through all of the smoke. The article is not about wheather homosexuality is a sin.(all unmarried sex is)It is about the fact that John McCain went runnung to the most famous "evangelical "he could find to endorse him in Texas.Never mind that this man preaches that Jews can achieve salvation without recieving Jesus as their savior.John Hagee for this and many reason is a black eye to the cause of Christ. And anyone who takes him and his false teachings seriously needs some time at the altar.
Its easy to see why the Catholic church wants people to believe their interpretation of scriptures. If people read them for themselves they would see that everything that the Catholic Church says leads to salvation is counter to what the Lord Jesus says is what does lead there. Many will call Lord,Lord and there will be false teachers, but salvation can be found in no other name than Jesus Christ.

Amen !!The plight of these christians needs to be exposed for all of the world to see.Especially here where the American church is so self involved,we need to be reminded that in other parts of the world there are christians that actually are paying a price for the cross, some times with their very lives.

I don't see what all of the bother is about.Because as long as Mr.Hagee continues to preach that the Jews can achieve salvation without accepting Jesus as their savior I wouldn't want his endorsement on anything that I was associated with at all.

Modern, post modern. These are all just phrases being used to spin someones excuse for deviating from the straight path as told in the bible.People don't think any different today than they have since creation.False teachers continually find ways to sugar coat a slightly off gospel to lure and entrap people.Molding a message to fit an agenda rather than asking the Holy Spirit to mold them to a gospel standard.Remember that Paul himself warned of this, and was so concerned about it that he said,if even he were to come to them with another message not to believe it.

Its a good thing that Jesus only hung out with Pharasees and scribes.Who knows what would have happened to us if He had hung out with sinners and outcast?

What is it with the American church, that it feels that it doesn't want or need to experience difficulties? The shortest verse in the bible is Jesus wept, not" except America".Christians here need to realize that if they are truly a part of the body of Christ they must and will share the same burdons as christians all over the world do.Jesus said that the world would hate us just as it hated Him first.Thats it,end of discussion. If you equate movies that offend you with picking up your cross and following Jesus you need to spend some more time on your knees.
Over 250 million christians face true persecution on a daily basis. They are tortured and killed for not renouncing Christ, yet here in America we get in a tizzy over Ten Commandment displays, and offensive movies. The truth is if we were doing more for the Kingdom we would be facing more from the enemy.

What started out as a great opportunity to warn against watering down the gospel,is instead used as a reason to bash people on a political level. We are supposed to be citizens of a heavenly nation,Gods ambassadors, and we waste so much time pitting one worldly form of political thinking against another.Maybe what intensifies radical Islam is the basic hypocracy of people who claim to be christians leading the most worldly of lives.

What seems to be missing from all of the discussion is that Dr.King was moved by his faith to try to unite America on the rightousness of racial equality and social justice. While todays major social discourse seems to divide us along religous and sectarian lines.Dr.King probably wouldn't recognize todays political or religous dialog.
God bless these girls for having the courage to unashamedly tell the world just what kind of life they've been saved from. What better witness can any of us present to the world than such a drasticly changed life. And if anyone is tempted to look down on these women because of their past just remember the kind of people Jesus was seen with during His time on earth.I pray that they experience a succesful harvest in their mission to such a display of sin and depravity.

The body of Christ has always advanced through the blood of martyrs.Situations like this are happening all over the world every day.We need to remember them every day,and lift them up in prayer. It is estimated that there are 250,000 christians martyred every year, and speaking of their circumstances only at Christmas does a disservice to them and the Lord.In Hebrews 13:3 we are told to remember those in prison as if we were in prison ourselves. And how free christians act on behalf of those imprisoned brothers and sisters will demonstrate to the world our love for our fellow man. So this Christmas lets resolve to do all that we can for our persecuted bretheren and show the love of God to a lost and dying world.

As long as we have people who try to impose "christianity" we will continue to have spirirually dishonest drivel that begets this mean-nothing bill.Christianity can only move forward when it is accepted by willing and broken hearts. Those who try and conflagrate christianity and nationalism are clearly trying to use religion as a means to unconstitutional power. They build religious sounding mythology and use lies about the founding of this country and the men who were here from the start. My God doesn't need dishonest power grabbers to advance His cause. As for the claim that The United States was founded as a christian nation I would like to quote Predident George Washington"The United states is in no sense founded upon the christian doctrine."This country was founded by men seeking religious tolerance, and it's so sad that now it is being put into jeopardy by men and women trying to impose religious intolorance. And for those smart alecks who try and say freedom of religion does not mean freedom from religion, you people don't know the true meaning of freedom or religion.

What true christian ministry would fear having their operations out in the light? We are to lead exemplory lives so that even the heathen knows that we are from God.How does this make the Kingdom look to unbelievers? Its time for the true gospel to be preached, not plant your seed and Jesus will make you rich!!You can't let your light shine if you're worried who might try to see by it.

Its a shame, but not a surprise that another televangelist has given christians another black eye.Even more so that another of these prosperity hucksters tie themselves to the pentecostal and charasmatic movement. These people lay in wait for sincere christians and make them promises in Gods name only to enrich themselves. Its time for any Christian who is looking at any ministry to support to be cautious of any ministry named after a person. All ministries should be Christ centered and not devised by mere humans. We need to practice discernment when it comes to any of these televised ministries and be sure of the gospel that they preach.

If the catholic church was Christ centered instead of tradition centered,it would not be concerned with where people were coming to Christ. The bible says that our only way to the Father is through Jesus, the Catholic church believes they can place a "priest"to intercede with God on our behalf. The bible says only God can forgive sin,the Catholic church believes that a "priest" can bestow forgiveness. The bible says that we are to pray in Jesus name, the Catholic church encourages "prayer"to their "saints",and even go as far as using relics(body parts of "saints").The bible says that Jesus payed the price for our sins on the cross, the Catholic church believes that their:priest has the authority to impose a pennance on the catholic believer to bring about forgiveness for the catholics sin.Jesus tells us to pray in short and private ways not like pegans who believe that they have to speak a multitude of words in pegan prayer, the Catholic church believes you should repeat memorized prayers over and over on a string of beads. The bible says that Jesus is the only perfect men,the Catholic church believes that the can elect a man and that he becomes perfect, and they call call him pope. Its no surprise that as people search for God,He will also seak them out the way He said He would in the bible.Until the Catholic church focuses on Christ and not it's own traditions it will continue to see God move in ways that are to His liking and not theirs.
On our own we are little more than bits of stone and glass. Together we are the Body of Christ. Holy Bible: Mosaic is an invitation to experience Christ in His Word and in the responses of his people. Each week, as you reflect on guided Scripture readings aligned with the church seasons, you will receive a wealth of insight from historical and contemporary writings.
