If I am interpreting you right, the concern you have is the changing of traditions. But I fail to see how if two same-sex persons get married, how does that is any way diminish your traditions? You can continue to have the same wedding that you always dreamed of.

Who here can tell me that their own marriage will be threatened and likely result in divorce as a result of implementation of California implementing same-sex marriage?

Show me causality of harm that same-sex marriage will cause your own marriage?less

Hi mathetis: I agree with you that smoking causes harm to individuals resulting in lung disease and cancer. But how does your analogy correlate to gays? Especially consider the position which all christians should embrace: the acceptance of monogamous, loving same-sex relationships is just as healthy as straight relationships.

Do you refer to STDs, mathetis? If so, broaden your net! STDs can be prevented by monogamous relationships. That is exactly why I advocate christians to embrace m9onogamy. Two same-sex persons who are chaste amongst themselves do not contribute to spread of STDs. That is one reason why same-sex marriage benefits society.

    Rollin4him:
Here is the tricky path you go down when you legislate your own favor of religion. Let's ask a simply question. How many different flavors of religion are there? Bhuddist, Hinduism, Judaism, Taoism, Confucsionism, and the list goes on almost indefinitely. Especially when you look at the flavors of religions for those who believe in Christ. Oh my! Lutheran, Protestant, Catholic, Greek Orthodox, Methodist, Episcipalean, Baptist, Evangelical, and this list goes on and on and on...

So, you honestly believe it is in the best interest of the United States of America to confirm its laws to the law of one of these religions?

Obviously there is no reason to stand up against gays. To stand up against gays is a form a discrimination. Gays represent a minority in the country. The greatest estimates are that 10% of the population is gay. That number is highly suspect, and recent census data which may be underreported suggests that approximately 3% of the population is gay.

So, what is all the fuss about? If one accepts the premise that America is a free country, why should one be against a group of individuals pursuing their happiness as a gay committed loving couple?

Since 2003 when the U.S. Supreme Court overruled anti-sodomy laws in Lawrence vs Texas, laws that forbade same-sex relationships became unconstitutional. As a result, homosexuality cannot be made illegal.

The rationale person then must question, what should America do with homosexuality now that t no longer can be made illegal.

Put another way, homosexuality in America is here to stay. Like it or not. So, what should we do with homosexuals? I encourage all Christians to encourage gay marriage. Why? Because gay marriage is in the best interest of society.

Ask yourself, if gays are to be tolerated in America, should we encourage gays to embrace monogamy with a loving, caring same-sex life partner? Or should we banish gays into the shadows of society, not accepting them for who they are?

It is in the best interest of society to encourage gays to embrace monogamy and choose a same-sex life partner.less

In medieval France and several other European countries, voting for city and town assemblies and meetings was open to the heads of households, regardless of sex. Women's suffrage was granted by the Corsican Republic of 1755 whose Constitution stipulated a national representative assembly elected by all inhabitants over the age of 25, both women (if unmarried or widowed) and men.

Why is it the most homophobic zealots are the ones who 5 years later end up outed by gay prostitutes and bad drug deals? I wonder if S. Michael Craven is associated with the Ex-Gay movement? Usually those who scream loudest against homosexuality have themselves the greatest internal temptation. This explains why Anti-Gays are so obsessed with gay sex. Its always on their minds!

Now, let's examine the premise of this Anti-Gay paper. Same-sex marriages will influence straight marriages to fall part. I think that is it.

How does love between two same-sex individuals lessen the love and commitment of anyone else? Will S. Michael Craven be temped to partake in homosexual yearnings because he sees same-sex unions sanctioned by the state?

The premise is faulty also because gay marriage would only create stability for monagomy. Christians including S. Michael Craven should actively embrance same-sex unions which strengthen the love and committment of two people who committ to each other through love and caring for the other.

Love is a beautiful thing! Same-sex marriage now opens up the institution of marriage to gays and lesbians throughout California starting this Monday.

God bless America. And God bless love. No matter whether its hetero or homo! Love is love, and love is here to stay.less

Since the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 2003's historic Lawrence vs Texas case to make anti-gay sodomy laws unconstitutional, gays like it or not have earned the right to have a seat at the table. Homosexuality is no longer illegal in the U.S.A. It is a fact that must be dealt with, like it or not. Now, the rational human being who favors stability over chaos, will ask: what is the best way to integrate homosexuals into society? Afterall, we can't ban them. We can't make their behavior illegal. Don't you see its a losing battle to fight monogamy for homosexuals. Gay marriage is the right thing for America because it is what is best for society. Society doesn't benefit by banishing homosexuals to the shadows. Society benefits by welcoming gays and lesbians into the mainstream fabric of our culture. American has always been a melting pot. Whether it was the Irish, the Germans, the Polish, or Indians, Pakistanis, Nigerians, or now the Gays. We welcome. We integrate. And you know what, or society becomes stronger, and better for it. I urge all Christians to reconsider their views on Gay Marriage. Welcome stability of two people who love each other and want to commit the rest of their lives together. Welcome the fact that gay couples can raise children just as well as anyone else. And that a family built on love will serve society well. Finally, admit that Gays can in fact love each other. To state that homosexuality is all about sex, focuses incorrectly that these couples are unable to love, charish, and honor each other. Grow up America. These are adults who love each other.
