Chas, while I respect the Catholic church, I could not in good conscience become Catholic because of doctrinal issues. That said, I have a theologically astute Catholic fiance, and even she acknowledges that most who are sitting in Catholic pews are not truly believers.
I think we need to be teaching kids apologetics. The age of the earth may not matter, but that's no reason not to teach creationism in churches, whether old earth or young earth.

This is so dumb. The sad conclusion of an Biblically ignorant person.
Ya know, even though all these people are huge heretics and are spreading a false prosperity and wealth obsessed sickness within the church, they do deserve the same due process as anybody else.
I seriously doubt Chuck Colson is trying to reject the commandment of God. He is striving toward Christian unity. The words of the pope signify that the Roman church is finally accepting what Luther said. This doesn't make them perfect, but no denomination is perfect. However, this is an important step, and I don't know about you, but I believe God is doing something.

pvlman,
I love it when I get to point out someones blatant ignorance. First, people who claim to be Christians and are not following the teachings of Christ are not the best people to look at to get a good idea of what Christianity is about.
Second, the logical outworkings of atheism ends at genocide. Why not kill the weak? If there is no God, there is no reason not to. Hitler did it! So did Mao, Pol Pot, Stalin, etc. They all used that reasoning to justify murder. But it flowed logically. It is illogical in Christianity, because Christ said to love your enemies.
Read something other than your dumb atheist web-sites.

I seem to remember us pro-lifers warn of this when you emergent liberal types said Obamuhh would "reduce" abortions. Huh. It's evil and America will pay for it.

I will pray president Obamuhh will see the need for the Savior and fall on his face before God and repent for his actions concerning abortion. I also pray he will not destroy our country.

You think they'll address some of the charismatic craziness that goes on?
I think there are catholics who are saved. I would urge them to join a more doctrinally sound church, but if they've repented and put their trust in Jesus, then scripture says they are saved.
I feel so sad for Mr. Dawkins. I pray he comes to Christ soon.

The point is is that Mormonism is not another denomination of Christianity. It is a cult that denies essential Christian doctrines.

BOT, if you think Jesus is a created being, you are not saved. Jesus Christ is the self existent creator of the universe (John 1). That is New Testament Christianity, not the wakcy con-man cult of Joseph Smith and his cronies.
You play no part in your salvation. Christ saves us by grace through faith only.

I am getting so sick of this litigation baloney! I wish these atheists would get transported back to the 1780's or 1790's and pull this simplemindedness. George Washington would personally punch them in the face.

Eph 2:8-9
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Mormon's beliefs are blind. History does not support your faith. However, there is freedom from your sins in Jesus Christ. You can't work for your salvation, because you have already broken God's law! Jesus paid the fine for your crimes on the cross of Calvary. That is an historic FACT. Only God could pay for humanity's sins.
On our own we are little more than bits of stone and glass. Together we are the Body of Christ. Holy Bible: Mosaic is an invitation to experience Christ in His Word and in the responses of his people. Each week, as you reflect on guided Scripture readings aligned with the church seasons, you will receive a wealth of insight from historical and contemporary writings.
