  • Huckabee Plots a Presidential Comeback?

“Then He returned to the disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour is near, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.”
    Matthew 26:45

John McCain does not whole-heartedly represent conservative values, and a half-truth is a nothing more than a lie.

Mike Huckabee continues to show his true colors by asking his mournful followers to support McCain.

Maybe now, Christians will wake up and listen to a voice of reason:

    citsonga,

Whether we choose to acknowledge it, or not, God is on His throne, and He is in control. He has chosen to give you and me free choice. I pray that my God will make Himself very real to you and show you how much He loves you. I pray you will choose to seek Him, and He will give you faith to believe that His Son Jesus died so that you might live. He is our only hope.

Jeff, you are exactly right about getting the government we deserve. The blood of some 50 MILLION defenseless unborn Americans is crying out for justice, and even those of us who acknowledge our nation's bloodguilt are still too busy following "The American Dream" to worry about "unwanted fetuses".

America's conscience has been AWOL for 35 years, and we cannot expect to revive it with one vote.

The national crisis upon us has nothing to do with the economy, aside from our obsession with things money can buy.

We are experiencing an American heart attack, and even we who recognize the warning signs refuse to go to the Great Physician because He would tell us we must change our diet (eat meat instead of milk), exercise (put feet to our faith), or die.

Seedplanter, I agree with you about the wake-up call, but not just for this year's election or one candidate. We are in desperate need of true revival… Without a lifestyle of REPENTANCE, we are doomed.

BTW, McCain favors using your tax dollars for embryonic stem cell research, he personally sued Wisconsin Right to Life, his McCain-Feingold Act violated free speech rights, and he was one of seven Republicans against the Marriage Protection Amendment. (http://roegone.org/Site/Tv%20ADS%20.html)

I think we all three really want the same thing -- to live in a land we can ask God to bless. The question begging to be answered is, why are we sitting here?

It will take nothing less than a bona fide miracle to put a God-fearing man in the White House with the ‘08 election. Though we do not deserve such divine intervention, we can still hope and pray that the Ruler of the Universe might have mercy on our morally impoverished nation and remind us all that He is the only one in control.

When and if the stubborn hearts and wills of the American people finally break over the sin that enslaves us, then we will earnestly pray for a president who will uphold the Lord’s truth and righteousness, regardless the effect on our economy, our choice, or our pride.

For years, Alan Keyes has stood out as a man after God’s own heart.

His perception of the issues facing our nation is dead-on.

His eloquent, astute delivery is unmatched.

His righteous anger is appropriate and refreshing.

Put Dr. Ambassador Alan Keyes and Judge Roy Moore on the ballot, and America might have a future, but not unless we repent.

I am reminded of the story of Richard Wurmbrand, founder of a ministry now known as The Voice of the Martyrs.

A year after the Communist takeover of Romania, the government invited all religious leaders to a congress held at the Parliament building. Pastor Wurmbrand and his wife were among over 4000 pastors, priests, and bishops who attended. After choosing Joseph Stalin as honorary president of the congress, the religious leaders began making their way to the stage to praise and declare their loyalty to the new regime as their speeches were broadcast worldwide by radio.

When Pastor Wurmbrand and his wife could stomach the lies no longer, he went to the microphone and began to proclaim the message of Christ. A Communist official immediately tried to silence him, but Richard kept talking. Eventually the audience began to cheer for the brave pastor who was willing to risk everything to speak the truth they had been afraid to defend.

The shouts and clapping of the crowd persisted even after the microphone wires were cut, but Richard Wurmbrand's obedience cost him far more than his tax status. Over the next two decades, he spent years in prison being tortured for his faith.

Less than a century has passed since that fateful day in Romania, yet the Church has forgotten the lesson that could have spared us. Tragically, pastors like Wiley Drake* are rare and priceless. They will be remembered as heroes of the faith long after they are silenced.

Meanwhile, unless and until the rest of God’s people rise up to be heard, we and our heirs will suffer the consequences our apathy, ignorance, and cowardice have fostered in a culture exponentially decaying because it has rejected the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

*Dr. Wiley Drake is a dedicated servant of the Lord who unapologetically upholds truth and righteousness over political-correctness. For those who have an ear to hear, “The Wiley Drake Show” airs daily Monday through Thursday at 9:00 a.m. PST, and can be listened to live over the Internet at www.crusaderadio.com. Pastor Drake also leads an hour of international telephonic prayer every day from 5:00 – 6:00 a.m. PST.

"The world has lost the power to blush over its vice; the Church has lost her power to weep over it."
    ~Leonard Ravenhill

Where in God's Word do we find an excuse to sit in a pew (or in our own recliner, for that matter) and squander precious time spectating? It's a tragic day in America when church leaders encourage "viewing parties" and other forms of self-gratification in the name of "fellowship" yet ignore the Church's responsibility to be salt and light to our neighbors.

Thank God for a law that forces pastors to think twice before using church buildings as venues for spectator sports.

Consider the impact our American obsession with sports has had on the gambling industry, and vice-versa. Sadly, many Christians see no harm in betting on a game, despite the vast destruction of families caused by gambling addictions.

Then, there's the advertising and mass consumption of alcohol which takes place at these events, with no regard to the fact that minors are present. Is it okay if all we do is watch it?

And, please explain the real difference between a wardrobe malfunction and the average cheerleader's attire.

Ever wonder what Jesus would do if He were to walk into a church sanctuary full of Christians yelling and cheering for images of men injuring each other for sport, while scantily-clad females led drunken throngs in praises to their idols?... (Especially if only a few hours earlier those same Christians had sat on their hands in those same pews, yawning their way through a worship service for the King of Kings?)...

Maybe for now I'll just skip the part about how some Christians put more money into sporting event tickets than offering plates.

"Nothing can be more cruel than the leniency which abandons others to their sins. Nothing can be more compassionate than the severe reprimand which calls another Christian in one's community back from the path of sin."
    ~Dietrich Bonhoeffer

"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12:2
