@lpepperw - "Some people just can't get over the fact that churches don't just use flannel boards anymore" - LOL!

@Clover - "Not once have you ever heard any sexual scandal or charges of misappropriation of funds connected to Dr. Graham." And you haven't heard about any of that in relation to Ed Young either. (@Clover - not directing this comment toward you, just referencing your quote.)

@theeviljuan - I don't deny that Jesus spoke against the WEALTHY, who in that culture, were lording their wealth over others. But he didn't discourage the attaining of wealth (don't you think that Peter's miraculous catch of fish brought wealth to his family - wealth in relation to that time period - and there is no indication that he gave any of the money to Jesus). I don't think Jesus concerns himself with the cars we drive, the houses we live in, or the clothes we wear. He is more concerned with our heart and if we are serving Him by sharing the Gospel, serving Him by serving our local church body through our talents and our finances, and serving Him by ministering to the community then His will is being accomplished on Earth.
So, taking your logic that Ed Young needs to sell "his" $150,000 car (which I have no knowledge that he even HAS a $150,000 car), shouldn't we all just: sell our cars b/c Jesus walked a majority of the time (unless he borrowed a boat or donkey); sell our homes b/c he had no place to lie his head; only eat locust & honey since he was a Nazarite and probably followed the same "diet" as John the Baptist; and only wear camel hairs clothing since the scriptures speak of not wearing blended fabric?
Lets get over our Pharisiac tendencies and our hypocritical attitudes and realize that we aren't the judge (thank goodness) and quit speculating on whether someone is a Christian or not (which is how you started this thread and I am pretty sure that you don't know the state of anyones heart except your own) and worry about our own standing before God. There is the story in John 21 when Jesus asks Peter if he loves Him. After Peter responds that he does (3x), Jesus tells him to feed His sheep (3x) and then says "Follow Me." Peter, not content with that, sees John and says, "But what about him?", Jesus says “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.” I think that is pretty good advise to all of us - Jesus will deal with Ed's heart (if it is needed and warranted) and He will do the same with each of us, so THAT is what we should be worried about.less

@elpjackson - in addition, the Apostle Paul in reference to support of ministers, said that "the workman is worthy of his wages" - and who should determine that? You or I? No, the church Ed serves determines that - and if they determine to pay him $10,000/yr or $100,000/yr or $1 mil/yr - than that is their responsibility, not ours.

@elpjackson - and I don't understand why anyone would have a problem with that. As long as he (and his family) are supporting the church they serve & minister thru (thru tithes and offerings), are using other resources to minister (support missionaries, community shelters, etc), then why can't he and his family use the money they have earned and saved on what they want to? It is the church that he serves responsibility to hold him accountable, not those of us that glimpse into his life by reading an article or two. If we begin to do that, we are no better than Sen Grassley (sp) who investigated the high-profile ministries a while back.less

Everytime? I take it that you are one of the individuals who has been to the church Ed pastors and heard EVERY sermon he has preached - thats impressive! Seriously? I would suggest you go to his website or iTunes and ACTUALLY listen to his teachings and i am betting that not EVERY teaching is related to money - tho, after the topic of love, money is the one topic that Jesus talked the most about...more

Dude, that was awesome! "...(H)igh on opinion, low on Spirit..." - that is gold! Unfortunately, I think if any of the posters (dare I say 'haters' as Furtick would say) on CP were to view it (which I doubt they will), they would just see in the same light as Ed Young driving a Ferrari on stage: a stunt! Too bad b/c Furtick is right on the money - thanks for the link.

The 2nd full paragraph of the article begins with, "But that wasn't his car, according to his blog...". Now I am sure, some will latch on to the very next phrase, "(a call to the church was not immediately returned)...." as being proof it was his - sheeeesh! I think we should take him to court over this b/c at least in a court of law he is innocent until proven guilt. Seems like many of the posters on "The CHRISTIAN Post" have forgotten about one foundation word in the Scriptures: Grace. No wonder non-believers want nothing to do with the church of the 21st century. God, forgive us for judging the poor and the needy b/c they are poor and needy.less

What is next: are we going to begin condemning and taking away church membership from believers who work the assembly lines at Ferrari or Ford? I guess I shouldn't tell you that I am eating cottage cheese and yogurt tonight for dinner b/c it is not "part of the gospel".less

Then instead of saying "his stunts go overboard", why don't you find out how many ACTUALLY have come to know Christ under his ministry then you can make a judgment.

It amazes me how many people make judgments on others whom they have never met nor taken the time to listen to. I would venture to say that nearly all of the people who have posted something negative about Ed young are 1)not members of the church he pastors; 2) have never listened to one of his sermons; or 3) don't know anything about him other than what they read in this article. In addition, I would venture to say that Ed Young has had more opportunities to speak in to the lives of individuals, share the Gospel with them, and see people come to know Christ as their personal Savior then the combined total of the posters to this article have (and I am including myself in that number also).
So my suggestion would be: 1) to not only pray for Ed Young, but all pastors/ministers (whether you agree with or like them or not), who stand in pulpits around the world that they would be led by the Holy Spirit to rightly proclaim the Word of God; 2) open yourselves up to new ways to share the "old, old story" - I don't mean that negatively but even Paul and the New Testament writers used imagery from their culture to communicate the message of Jesus; and 3) be more concerned with you are doing to grow the Kingdom of Christ than what others are doing.
I have never met Ed Young nor been to the church he pastors, but I have listened to numerous of his teachings and have watched seminars & conferences he has participated in and believe he is a gifted speaker, anointed by God, to reach this generation and train others to carry the banner of the Gospel.less
