I am in Mosul with coalition forces. I suspect the Christians in Iraq form an economic backbone and provide services to Iraq much like what the Jews offered throughout Europe before World War Two. Christians in Mosul are a soft target of opportunity with overarching social and political value. They offer the same kind of advantages to insurgents that the Jews offered to Hitler. Killing and evicting them further destabilizes an already crippled economy, leveraging calls for "change" without causing a public outcry against the killers.

Interesting responses. I don't understand the thinking that would exclude praying for our enemies as well as praying for ourselves. It flies in the face of Jesus' explicit instructions and the principle that it is more blessed to give than to receive. I think this others-centered approach is a key to revival.
