Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (JN 8:32)
Why are Americans surprised and disappointed by this? It's what they voted for. Obama made no secret about his policies and what he was going to do if elected. I began mourning for the massive numbers of embryos that would be killed as soon as he was elected.

American Christians should be ashamed of themselves. For a predominantly Christian nation, you certainly have dropped the ball. You elect a man who is going to cause human genocide in labs and abortion mills for the next 4 yrs because you wanted to make history (Isn't that racism against McCain?) Then you boo your CHRISTIAN leader. My Bible says that GOD puts leaders in place and we are to PRAY FOR THEM! North American Christians need to stop listening to left-wing media and the rhetoric and outright lies they "report."

Here comes the doomsday President. God help North America as this backlash sweeps the nation.

I can see why The US and Canada aren't featured or even hinted at in Revelation prophecy. We're becoming so screwed up and secularly "inclusive" and "tolerant" that we have nothing to offer to the historical, Biblical end
times. Makes me want to scout out another country--or continent--to live in.

I was going to drop a comment but you all said it all. AMEN.

jkconner: If this is not a book of doctrine, the author shouldn't have included HIS version of Christian doctrine in the story, and he certainly shouldn't be teaching on it in churches around the nation as if he's suddenly a theologian. He seems reluctant to even call himself a Christian, something I'm very proud of.

Since when did God ever put human emotion above His Truth. Talk about putting Christians down...doesn't the "Jesus" character in this book do just that? He's not a Christian, doesn't like Christians and doesn't want to make Christians out of pagans. That doesn't sound like the Jesus I know. It sounds suspiciously like the author, who by the way, isn't even part of a church.

Go guys go! Thank the Lord of heaven--as opposed to the Lord of The Shack--that these leaders are continuing to raise their voices against this heretical piece of work.
Sounds like a clash of television personalities. He's not the right one to continue with the famous Crystal Cathedral tv ministry but he's fine to run the church as an unseen entity? Much of what the senior Schuller has been teaching in recent years is questionable anyway, so it's no loss.

Even those who like The Shack agree that there are theologically unsound representations in it. So why would anybody justify or support the book? We're talking about the very image of God! Doesn't the Bible say that the mind is a fertile ground for good or evil? And Jesus' parable reps of God all portrayed His righteousness FROM SCRIPTURE. Most people I've heard from and read admit the book's rep is greatly unbiblical.

Well I took personal affront at his blasphemous image of the Almighty in this book. Then there's the profanity. That use to be one of the reasons I read only Christian fiction, to avoid things like that. To me it's a big intrusion of the story. And it's not"just a story." I'm so tired of hearing that. Has nobody paid attention to the stuff coming out of the mouth of these "God" characters? I was glad I didn't spend any money on it. In fact, I put it down part way through, something I've rarely done with books, and also got it taken out of our church library.

Gay Christians? Isn't that an oxymoron?

Never mind YouTube. There's nothing but filth on there anyway. For a full understanding of how men like Bently can propagate stuff like this today and fool so many heartfelt believers, check out Hank Hanegraff's (The Bible Answer Man)book "Counterfeit Revival." It's 10 yrs old but even more relevant today. It'll answer any questions about these sorts of charasmatic movements.
Sounds like a lot of confusion. That's what happens when you are seduced by doctrines of demons. You have to cut and paste your own set of beliefs. God help them.

Did I misunderstand the end of this article? Scientists say that after you've had high-risk sex, you should wash your hands? Isn't that kind of like trying to remove the eggs after you've already backed the cake?

theotrek--or anyone interested in this issue. I recommend reading "Unveiling Islam." It's written by two former Muslim brothers who are now Christian brothers. It'll show you eye-opening differences and history between the two faiths. And, yes, Muslims initiated all battles because it's a large part of their Koranic directive.

Jireh: These televangelists lifestyles are on public display--or public spectacle. No guessing or unsubstantiated judgment needed. A lot of their expenditures are already a matter of public record. I don't need to know if they're following the letter of the law. At least we call them hypocrites. They practice what they preach. They believe they're now blameless and deserve to be rich.
Jesus4me: Keep on preaching it, brother/sister!

maranatha: What do you consider "trivial"? Living the lifestyles of the rich and famous in the name of God at the expense of the starving and downtrodden is trivial? And what exactly is a Full Gospel pastor?
On our own we are little more than bits of stone and glass. Together we are the Body of Christ. Holy Bible: Mosaic is an invitation to experience Christ in His Word and in the responses of his people. Each week, as you reflect on guided Scripture readings aligned with the church seasons, you will receive a wealth of insight from historical and contemporary writings.
