Just a question - - I wonder if any Christians would object to a graduation ceremony being held in a Mosque?
Just a thought . . . .
It's happening!!!!
First, these churches welcome gays and lesbians into their midst.
Then they allow gay marriages.
Now, they're welcoming dogs.
Next (you guessed it) they will be allowing people to marry their dogs!
The right-wing evangelicals were right all along . . .
Someone needs to kindly inform Mr. Colson that religious freedom does not entitle one to discriminate, withhold medical services or to BREAK THE LAW.

Believer: I was referring to transgendered people only -- those with diagnoses of gender dysphoria.
As far as effiminate boys or masculine girls, yes, they are probably homosexual. However, they constitute a relatively small part of the homosexual population. (About fifteen percent as I recall) For example, the majority of gay men are not effeminate -- it's just that the effeminate ones are noticeable.
Regardless, sexual orientation is for the most part, immutable. Some people may have some bisexual tendencies, then subvert their homosexual desires and claim that they have been "converted". But knowing about homosexuality doesn't really affect one's sexual orientation one way or the other.
I knew I was attracted to the same sex long before I knew about homosexualtiy or about 'being gay'. I also knew, deep down, that there was no moral choice involved.

Believer: The information I shared had to do with transgendered people, not homosexual people.
And no, I don't believe knowing this information will influence anyone to be transgendered.
Actually, it's the other way around.
Someone will know they are transgendered and later it's discovered that there is a biological component to their diagnosis of gender dysphoria, such as having XXY or XO chromosomes, ambiguous genetalia at birth, etc.

A denomination is splitting?
This is news????

Typically, this author equates gender identity with sexual orientation. The two are NOT the same at all. A male with gender dysphoria is often heterosexual (identifies with being female and attracted to females -- not males)
Also, God created thousands of people with physically ambiguous genitalia and genders. Males often have XXY or XXXY chromosomes; other people are intersexed, others have XO chromosomes, and the list goes on.
This author needs to do some reasearch before simply writing an article lamenting that "boys should be boys."
It's not that simple.
Life seldom is.
These pastors should have gotten Carrie Prejean to be their spokespeson at this event. After all, she's their darling and is a champion of protecting marriage.

Jar1961 - It's on the website YOU furnished. I used the 2005 stats as my example.

Jar1961 -- I looked at the website you furnished and in all the cases of late-term abortions, they were done because if the pregnancy had been allowed to continue, it would have resulted in "substantial and irreversable impairment of a major bodily function."
That's the thing. Kansas state law requires that two other medical professionals must submit documentation that the abortion is required. In these cases, there were referring physicians. 240 cases, 235 of which were from out of state.
These are NOT elective abortions.
You are obviously one of the individuals I mentioned -- you don't WANT to believe otherwise.

These late term abortions that Tiller was performing were NOT elective abortions. In order to perform a late term abortion, the patient must have documentation from other medical professionals to substantiate it, i.e. that the fetus isn't viable, that the mother's health is in danger. These diagnoses appear late in the pregnancy and thus, the need to terminate it.
There is so much mis-information out there regarding this issue. Yes, these are very tragic situations and I hope none of you are faced with it. Many of the women who sought Tiller's help were Pro-Life and he was able to help them through these horrible situations.
He was not a "baby killer." Far from it.
I don't know why so many want to believe he was.
Like I said, I just hope no one has to go through this situation.

Even if gay marriage becomes legal in Illinois, I seriously doubt that I would ever get married.
The fact that someone would automatically be entitled to half my money and possessions? - - That's REALLY sick and perverted.

Although these Christian conservative groups complain about this hate crimes bill, the sad thing is, they will probably be DISAPPONTED if no ministers are arrested in relation to this bill.
They probably only see this as yet another chance to play the martyr.
There is much more to these cases than is presented in this article. Chuck paints such a sweeping, all-or-nothing picture in this article and that is simply not the case. Each of these situations is dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
e.g. Service ponies are very effective for those who are blind. It wasn't a "horse". These micro-ponies are less than 24 inches tall, weigh less than 60 pounds and are house-trained. They live to be 40-50 years old and cost less to train than a dog.
Yes, Chuck, the service ponies cost taxpayers LESS.
Another example: There was a case in New York when a blind man's dog kept barking in a theatre and he was asked to leave. He sued the theatre and did NOT win.
I think Chuck needs to settle down a bit and stop with the sensationalism. After all, we will all eventually be living with a disability and will need accommodations.
Including Chuck.

Many right-wing Christians claim that these hate crime laws are not needed. If that is so, why aren't they calling for the repeal of 'religion, being included under hate crimes?
I don't see them doing that. Why not?
After all, if you claim that no particular group needs "extra protection", put your money where your mouth is.

Wow -- The Philippines must have been pushing for gay marriage for God to have unleashed such disproportionate wrath against them!
