The Manhattan Declaration is upset because the religious organizations they espouse would be denied tax-exempt status should they go all-out and become politically involved. Chuck Colson views this as being a violation of free speech. . . Sorry Chuck. You can go ahead and trot out any organization you want and they can do or say what they want. Sorry Chuck. You can go ahead and trot out any organization you want and they can do or say what they want. However, you'll always look like a foolish baby banging on your high chair every time our tax dollars refuse to foot the bill for your government-subsidized discrimination and you claim it as a violation of your free speech. Go ahead, Chuck. Bang away on that high chair. . .less

Chuck is just upset because Apple (and lots of others) don't agree that anyone should have a free hand to discriminate and accept tax dollars to do so.

  • Conservatives Warn: DADT Repeal Likely to Hurt Morale, Recruitment

Let's face it. Even if 100 percent of everyone in the military threatened to go AWOL unless DADT was repealed, these right-wing groups would still have a problem with it. Nothing, absolutely nothing will change their minds about repealing DADT (or giving gays equal rights for that matter.)

  • Wash. Football Player Flagged for Pointing to God

These players who point to God when making a touchdown really appear to be calling attention to their own goodness rather than to God. Does God really care who wins a game? It's a GAME. By indicating that God favors them in a GAME, they are actually trivializing the god they pretend to serve. And what does it say about the opposing team? That God doesn't favor them? • Critics: DADT Report Glossed Over Soldiers' Fears of an Open Military

Wow. The Civil Unions bill just passed the Senate today and the house yesterday. Gov. Quinn is expected to sign it by the end of the week. . . I still don't want a spouse, though. The idea of anyone having automatic access to half my wealth is an abomination.

    Believer: If you've ever conducted a survey, you'd know that a 20 percent return is a HUGE amount -- a survey-conductor's dream.

Cheisa: I've always appreciated the thoughtfulness and tact in your posts. I'm a bit envious of your ability to do so as I'm not always as tactful as one should be.

  • Judge Rules Against Oklahoma's Sharia Ban

The Ten Commandments are also in the Quran. Just different wording. Maybe they should post the Quranic version instead of the O.T. Why not?

  • Survey: Evangelicals Go Against the Tide on Don't Ask, Don't Tell

I have a solution to the whole ordeal. Since it's the heterosexuals that seem to have a problem with gays in the military, why don't we simply bar heterosexuals from service? After all, have you seen what the heterosexual lifestyle is like? Over half of them divorce and make a mockery of marriage. Close to 95 percent of all sexual abusers are heterosexuals. 98 percent of murderers and rapists are ...more

  • Family Group Blasts Holiday Gift Certificates for Abortion

So, let me get this straight - - - God killed innocent children because of the willful disobedience of the Egyptians. It was the Egyptians who disobeyed God, so the innocent children suffered? What kind of justice is that?

  • Who Needs Marriage?

Good point Rev. The bottom line is that Albert Mohler simply wants everyone to be like him. Rational arguments mean nothing to him and his ilk.

  • Request for 9/11 Money to Fund Ground Zero Mosque Reignites Controversy

265 applicants have applied for $175 million dollars and there's only $17 million available. Believe me, this will be a hugely competitive process to obtain these funds. Whoever will be awarded the funds will have done a top-notch application and will have had to submit to an extremely stringent and thorough application process. Anyone who is awarded any of these funds will have deserved it.

  • Court: Censoring Student's 'God' Speech Is Unconstitutional

If only I had had the courage to use my rights of free speech during my high school valedictory speech, I too would have referenced God and Christ AND my boyfriend. Times were different then, I guess. . .

  • Bishop Swilley Refuses to 'Argue the Scriptures' on Homosexuality

Wow. This guy is TAILOR MADE for holier-than-thou Christianists. They enjoy nothing better than having a quick, efficient means of placing themselves on a pedestal. The whole gay issue is their means of doing so, and you better not dare take that away from them.

  • N.J. Pushes for Controversial Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights

I would not consider it bullying if you wanted to have that discussion with me (an adult). However, it would be extremely inappropriate for you to have that discussion with someone else's child. Quite frankly, I feel that your views are wholly inaccurate and harmful for any child to hear.
