Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (JN 8:32)
If this couple had been allowed to discriminated due to their own religious beliefs about sex, then I, as a Roman Catholic could have refused married couples if any of them had planned on having sex without contraception. That's how precedence works, folks.
These people like Harry Jackson who keep wanting gay marriage put to a vote are really backing themselves into a corner. Soon, the majority of Americans will favor the legalization of same sex marriage. What will the opponents of it, like Jackson, say then? I'd really like to know.
How ironic. This article cites the executive director of the Illinois Family Institute which happens to be one of the most virulent, anti-gay, lie-spreading groups around and is also listed as a "hate group" by the Southern Poverty Law Center. If Martin Luther King Jr had been associated with such a group today, it would have rendered him totally irrelevant as a civil rights leader. Frankly, I thi...more

If Martin Luther King Jr had been associated with such a group today, it would have rendered him totally irrelevant as a civil rights leader. Frankly, I think it's pretty blasphemous for these people to insinuate that MLK would have acted like them -- obtaining civil rights and then pulling up the ladder behind them.less
Skepticism: Regarding the flagging, obviously a few folks on this forum haven't the capacity or enough self-control to abide by the CP guidelines. We may encounter their nonsense for a few moments here and there, but can you imagine what it must be like for THEM to live in their own heads 24/7 ?
The article states that this is the 56th university to implement gender-neutral housing. the 56th! If there had been problems with this, don't you think this practice would have been abandoned when the 10th university did it? Or the 20th? Or the 30th? Or the 40th? Ya think???
John: I fully agree. A medical professional should learn all procedures. After all, many pregnancy terminations are NOT elective. I and, too, would prefer not to have doctors and nurses who have refused to learn various medical practices because of Christian Science - - - And I'm an adhereant of Christian Science!
Online: Let me clarify - - I was referring to a Catholic marriage commissioner in a public office (not one in a church). Should this person be able to refuse to marry two non-Catholics and still keep his or her job? Would you feel that he had the right to refuse a Protestant a marriage license? After all, he's just abiding by his religious beliefs.
I used a Mac since 1988 because of their programs in music producing and publishing. I switched to PC in 2003 because so many programs weren't supported by Mac. I don't use an iPhone because AT&T sucks, And my twin gay brother is a director with AT&T cellular and even he says AT&T sucks compared to Verizon. So, I use a PC with Verizon wireless access. Face it. Using the Bible as a weapon toward homosexuality is what makes Christianity repugnant these days. If you want to "use" the Bible that way, then what you sew will be what you reap -- Christianity will be reviled. Don't bang on your high chair when you get the results! If you want to "use" the Bible that way, then what you sew will be what you reap -- Christianity will be reviled. Don't bang on your high chair when you get the results! If you really want to be a Christian, then "man up" and act like Jesus -- put God's love toward the disenfranchised, love your neighbor, humble yourself, and find some solidarity with the crucified Christ. THAT is what being a Christian is all about. Try that for a change and see what being a Christian is truly like.less
DisOp: Please read my comment a bit more carefully. I was quoting from the article and disputing the accuracy of it. And yes, Massachusetts has one of the lowest divorce rates in the country. As a matter of fact, according to the Massachusetts Bureau of Statistics, the divorce rate for same-sex couples is eight times LOWER than heterosexual couples since gay marriage has been allowed in 2004.

Local bishops can decide if same sex marriages can be performed in their diocese.less
