  • Former Atheist Aims to Reverse Negative Christian Stereotypes

What is so ironic is that a lot of fundamentalist Christians have made the subject of homosexuality a huge focal point in their spirituality. I wonder what their spiritual lives would be like if they completely ignored the subject? Would they be able to do so? Would they even have a spiritual life left?

  • Christian Leaders Say Green Movement is False Religion

Bottom Line: Anything that takes the least bit of power away from wealthy, white Protestant men is what they will attack. Big Business no longer being able to run unfettered? = Environmentalism! Taxing the wealthy? = Socialism! Equal rights? = Activist Judges! Face it, rich white Protestant men: This nation is no longer YOU!

Mike, every time you drive on a road, that's socialism at work. And do you think we don't live in a socialist economy here? 700 billion a year is collected from taxpayers to fund the military. Don't like socialism? Fine. Let's see how the military does with funding itself.

Since when have the justices ever let public policy decide a case? They wouldn't be "justices" if they did. And when have they NOT been "judicial activists"? (Brown vs. the Board of Education. etc. etc. etc.)

Anyway, by the time this gets to the Supreme Court, "public policy" will be in favor of gay marriage. Then what will Lorence say?less

  • An Open Letter to Senator Richard Burr

Why don't you be brave enough to post links to these studies? These stats were probably taken from a very small, select sampling like gay males in prison or male prostitutes. By the way, in 1980, HIV was completely unknown, so your claims are highly suspect. So, come on -- "man up" and provide links. Otherwise, your misleading "statistics" are actually salacious lies.

  • Obama Signs Don't Ask Don't Tell Repeal into Law

So you're saying that heterosexual soldiers haven't the capacity to exercise self control and will go on uncontrolled rampages against gay soldiers, is that it? Is that what you think of our military men?

I keep hearing that allowing gays to serve openly will disrupt unit cohesion, military readiness, etc. But there are over FORTY countries that allow gays to openly serve. Don't you think the Christian fundamentalists could come up with ONE example from these forty countries where this has happened? Well? What's the deal?

  • The Repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell

Believer: Precisely - - and if you had been showering with women since the age of 12, you would have learned, wery well by then, to keep things under control. By the time you were 19, it would have been no big deal. It would have been in your best interest to make it "no big deal" if you know what I mean. As gay men, we've made it 'no big deal." Trust me.

  • The Repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell

Tom and Forever: Okay, let's follow your logic: If you selectively ignored attractive women, then that would make you "not heterosexual?" See how ridiculous your argument is? And yes, behavior is a choice. Being gay is not a choice. There is no behavior involved in who you "are".

  • The Repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell

Chuck: We gay men have been showering together with straight men all our lives. And you know what? We've become very accustomed to IGNORING YOU. If the thought of another man lusting after your body causes a straight soldier to flee then (1) He's obviously not got what it takes to be in combat (2) Maybe it'll give him a little more respect in the way he lusts after female soldiers.

  • Chaplains Encouraged to Serve Boldly Despite DADT Repeal

Believer: Nagasaki, Hiroshima, eighty other Japanese cities that were carpet-bombed, villages in Cambodia, Berlin, Baghdad . . . best possible course of action that can be found. Would you still say that "War is Hell" if your family and loved ones were in those cities? Those cities were filled with loved ones -- hundreds of thousands of them.

  • Chaplains Encouraged to Serve Boldly Despite DADT Repeal

How about "Thou Shalt Not Kill."? It would seem that military chaplains who uphold that Christian teaching to the troops who bomb and murder thousands of innocent civilians would have an incredibly difficult time with that. And yet, the conservative Christians are only worried about who a soldier loves rather than the fact that they kill innocent people. Doesn't this seem horrible to anyone else?

Why do we tolerate so much worse spending here in the U.S? When you think about it, hasn't American patriotism become an insidious, horrible cult? Even though I'm gay and am all for gay rights, the subject of getting equal rights for gays in the military is TINY in comparison to what should be really taking place -- and that is REDUCING the U.S. military by any means possible. Cutting out all gays would be a start. Cutting out all heterosexual men would be the next step. A 90 percent reduction in U.S. armed forces.
