Oh brother. Since this article is discussing Constitutional questions, I'm talking about the Constitution and what it means to be an American. Are you now saying it's impossible to be a Christian and believe in democracy and the basic tenants of equality enshrined in our Constitution? It sure sounds like it from many of you.
I, for one, am completely uninterested in living in a theocracy. Is that what you really want? Do you honestly imagine that's a good idea? Do you really think if we did live in a theocracy, that you'd be allowed to practice your particular faith in the way that God has shown himself to you? That's why our forefathers and mothers came to this country, you do realize, to escape one faith being pushed on us from gov't and single church rule. And it's why we have the Constitution we have. It protects our religious freedom and gives more of us all a right to live freely. The idea we're more free by restricting others is a rather ridiculous idea to me. And, history proves over and over that when you start doing that to one group of people who are hurting no one, the restrictions start coming back on you.less

Do we as Christians really hate homosexuals so much that we will try to change the idea of equal protection under the law just to make sure they're not treated equally? That's not just sad, that's mean-spirited. It's certainly not American and it's not in the spirit of the founding of this great democracy, where everyone, whet...more
As a Christian, I worry when people make judicial decisions political. Do we as Christians really hate homosexuals so much that we will try to change the idea of equal protection under the law just to make sure they're not treated equally? That's not just sad, that's mean-spirited. It's certainly not American and it's not in the spirit of the founding of this great democracy, where everyone, whether we agree with them or not, is offered the same protections under the Constitution.
And, I worry when other Christians seem to begin bending the truth just to try and force our opinions through. To try and claim that the 11 judges, who all voted unanimously on this decision, were not following the Iowa Constitution seems disingenuous at best. This wasn't a case of just 3 judges or one judge, but all 11. The odds of all 11 being activists, in conservative, Bible-belt Iowa is highly unlikely.
When we start making our judicial system political, don't be surprised when that comes back to haunt Christians. It's a dangerous move, in my opinion.less
""Meanwhile, "positive levels of attitudes" that are encouraged toward GLBT persons include support, admiration, appreciation, and nurturance."" What a horrible, horrible attitudes to have toward other humans made by God. Sometimes, I can't believe the things that Christians say as representing the love of Jesus.
