I spent a total of 22 months in minimum security in 2004'2005, in the state of Oklahoma. During my time I was blessed to function as Chaplain's clerk at a facility where there was not an assigned Chaplain.
While paying my debt for financial crimes committed to support a $240 a day habit on opiates, (prescribed), I was blessed with the opportunity to spend virtually entire days in meditation, prayer, and study of scripture in preparation for release. Now, I am two semesters from completing a BA in Soc-Substance Abuse Studies and counseling, and will finish a master's study at one of the med-south seminaries i pursuit of a specialization in biblical counseling psychology.
Upon completion of school, I will begin to pursue development of transitioal housing (6-36mon) for returnign prisoners, veterans, recovered addicts, and families recovering from bondage, of which I have been all.
While inside, the biggest challenge to my walk was the growing muslim movement. In Oklahoma, it is primarily targeting the black communities and it offers all the trappings of deception and the learning of trecherus approaches confusion, contempt toward old testament teaching and a romantic appeal to the "history of Christ" as their number one "prophet".
The biggest challenge that most christians, growing as I am, or perhaps even mature in scripture but naive toward the reality of the muslim threat, fail to prepair adequately to defend the reason for faith and descipleship in Christ. My eyes are open now, and it is my hope and prayer that many others will heed the call to develop an affinity for learning all the ways that satan has to attack us at our core - our young ad unmentored christian testimony.
On our own we are little more than bits of stone and glass. Together we are the Body of Christ. Holy Bible: Mosaic is an invitation to experience Christ in His Word and in the responses of his people. Each week, as you reflect on guided Scripture readings aligned with the church seasons, you will receive a wealth of insight from historical and contemporary writings.
