  • Megachurch Pastor Guides Christians on Alcohol, R-Rated Movies

He says he has a problem with an overweight pastor preaching against drinking? What? He can't preach against sin because he sins? That's ridiculous. And comparing R rated movies to some sitcoms sounds like a cop out to me. Since I have been saved, just hearing bad language is enough for me not to watch. I'm more than happy watching the edited version on television. Not that I feel like it's a "sin" to watch but because it goes against my new nature I have in Christ. That is the issue. Is it something that you would do or look at if Jesus was seated beside you? If you are saved He is in you, and how can you subject the Holy Lord Jesus Christ to have a part in it?

Of course they are leaving. When you graduate high school, that's when you have to leave the youth classes where you get to go on "mission" trips and play games and meet with your friends. All of a sudden, you graduate to the "adult" class and no more fun. This is why people leave church. It's not about learning but about your experiences or your feelings. And btw, it is NOT cheap grace. My Savior experienced a grusome beating and crucifixion. Was separated from the Godhead, humiliated and killed. He experienced the death of every sinner ever born. How dare you call it cheap. He died for all so when someone is saved, it is not about their sins. They were paid for 2000 years ago. It is unbelief. So many of these comments have twisted the word of God and combined Israel under the law with grace today and it won't and never will mix. We are a new creature, a called out body of believers saved ONLY by the cross. Failure to understand who you are as a member of that body leads to total confusion. And also a failure to recognize the Apostle Paul as the apostle for us today chosen by the risen Lord Himself to go to us apart from the law and Israel. Be a workman, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Stories like this always leads back to one thing, biblical ignorance. And believe me, I was there too. It stems from relying on things you heard or thing that your preacher tells you but not out of the word of God. Being a christian has nothing to do with "following Jesus", asking Jesus into your heart or believing in Jesus. It's accepting what His son did on the cross as total payment for all sin forever and that He paid the penalty in full. It's not by joining a church, repeating a prayer or walking an aisle. If people would rightly divide the word of truth and know that you are not Israel under the law but a member of the body of Christ and what you are to do today in the dispensation of grace, things like this would be few and far between. But Satan has blinded people. He's an angel of light. He will make you think it comes from God. Wake up people.

    Believer said:
repent of their sin, by turning from their sin and turning to God by admitting they are a sinner, being sorry for their sin, recognizing Christ died for their sins, and by putting their complete faith/trust in the person and finished work of Christ alone. You say to do all those things but then you say it was finished by Christ alone. Repentance is a change of mind. It has nothing to do with your sins because they were paid for. Faith in His Son is the only thing God will accept.

He might at one time had been a christian leader but out of his own mouth he said that you could get to heaven other than through Jesus Christ. And you don't get God's guidance by asking Him to show you, He has written everything you need to know in a book called the Bible.

Because people are misinformed and being lied to about giving in the church. You are told to tithe 10% instead of being a cheerful giver. People are told that they are not under the law but somehow pick tithing and baptism as two laws we are somehow still under. Or that if we give we will get back more than we give. You are not Israel, you are in the body of Christ. You have NEVER been under a tithe, especially considering Israel was never told to tithe money, it was always animals and crops and they were under more than one tithe. Give as it is purposed in your heart. Don't give out of greed or fear. Give as God has blessed you. You won't be cursed if you don't give and you won't be rewarded for given. You are under grace. You are no more favored than anybody else. The ground is level at the cross!

What happens if you don't? Isn't that what happened to Israel. They thought they could? Jesus preached to Israel. They were under the law. Paul preached that you are not under the law. If you don't know that two different people are dealt with in scripture, you end up doing things that were not give to you to do. There was a time when that was true. But not now. Jesus was a minister of the circumcision when there was a difference. There is now no difference. We are all one in Christ Jesus. We are under grace. We can't live up to the law. That's why we needed a savior! Once we have salvation by believing that He did it all, then we can do all things IN CHRIST.

If you feed a poor person, they will still be poor. If you feed a poor person the gospel they will still be poor on earth but be rich in Christ. They will spend eternity rich. People are always going to suffer in this sinful world but when they have the gospel that Jesus died for their sin, was buried and arose again the third day to pay for the sins of the world then they have a blessed hope that they will someday be with the Lord and be rich in His heavenly place.

Religion is a man made system that puts in place things that you must do to gain God's favor. Denominations are a man made system not of God. I attended a denomination until my husband was told he had to believe the "baptist" doctrine or was not fit to be a deacon. So glad we found a church that teaches the Bible, and nothing else. No religion, no tradition, no covenant theology; just grace through faith.

Do you think the teachings of Jesus taught unity? Jimmy Carter just as most other so called "Christians" are trying to turn the word of God into a lie. Jesus never had a majority. He spent 3 years healing the sick and feeding the poor. How many followers were there at the end? 120 out of thousands. And by the way, Jesus is God so He wrote the whole Bible, not just what was written in red. We don't just focus on homosexuality or the death penalty or church and state being separated. And we do care about those people and the poor because we love others the way Christ loved us by dying for us but we will stand with His word no matter what Jimmy Carter or anybody else says. We love all but those that refuse to call their actions sin and refuse to realize that are not going to make us change what is in the word of God. We are to preach the gospel of the grace of God. And when He says something is sin, I believe it.

The Apostle Paul never tried to change culture. He preached the gospel. Plain and simple, give people the gospel of the grace of God and preach it in any culture. Only God can change a person's nature and only the Holy Spirit in you can do anything. There is only one gospel today that saves you and it is always right. If you would stop preaching phrases and preach the cross of Christ and Him crucified then there would be no division among us. Stop preaching "another gospel" and start preaching the true gospel found in 1 Cor 15 1-4.

Why was this disgusting man hired to judge anyway. He is very crude. I do not hate gay people just as I don't hate liars but I know they are both wrong. I'm proud there are still people out there that stand up for their values and for what the word of God says no matter what.

We as believers are not going to change men's hearts, only the Lord can do that. What we can do is stand up for biblical principles and never compromise them no matter what. Evil is here and has always been here and sometimes it is discouraging. But we know the end and we can take comfort that He will be with us to help us endure this terrible time of evil.
