  • Americans Pass Economic Woes to Churches

ID -- I agree with you but I work for a church and I know that first hand giving is down. I found out that my job is being phased out here and so it hard on everyone even those that work at a church. That does not dimish my faith, God has provided me with another job to take the place of the one that I have lost.

  • Same-Sex 'Marriage' Today; Polygamy Tomorrow

I think what Chuck Colson is discussing is where do you draw the line on marriage? First it is same sex then why not polymagy or next people wanting to marry animals. I know that last part is extreme but unfortunately there are strange people out there who would think it is ok. Also, churches would, I believe be forced by the state to perform these "marriages" under anti discrimination laws. Someone said in an earlier post that the church could decide whether or not to marry them but the church risks law suits for discrimination.

What ever happened to teach reading, writing and math? Why do we need all these social issues in schools? No wonder our schools are failing.

Where were these "churches" when Hamas was bombing Israel??? I never hear any outcry when Lebanon or any other country attacks Israel. It is only when Israel is trying to defend itself!

  • Popular Culture Driving Teen Violence, Say Christians

I agree with Stevey P but also, where are the parents? Parents have a right to say "NO" to that violent video game, movie or television show but parents won't do it. Saying "NO" to your children and explaining why they cannot/should not being seeing these things would help. I am a widow and I am raising two teenagers on my own. I have said "NO" plenty of times and my children have not been hurt by it. As long as parents cave into their children, companies will have a market for this garbage.

  • Research Reveals Critical Needs of Christian College Freshmen

    Tue Nov 13, 2007 10:05 am Agree: 1   Disagree: 0

I think what could help some of these college freshman, is if their Pastors could call ahead to other churches up by the particular college and help the freshman get into the college group there. My Pastor plans to do this for my son when my son heads to college next fall. It would be a great help so these freshman can meet other Christian college students and not fall victim to the "party" scene.

  • Christians Urged to Meet Atheists in the Public Square

    cshth »
    Thu Oct 11, 2007 8:30 pm Agree: 0   Disagree: 2

Problem with Christians meeting in the public square is main stream media. It would not be fair and balanced discussion. Atheists would get to state their points and Christians would get shut down.

  • Are Christians Contributing to Unbelief?

    cshth »
    Wed Oct 10, 2007 1:30 pm Agree: 1   Disagree: 1

I think the issue here is the as Christians, we are supposed to be "Christ-like". The world on the other hand wants us to be Christ and not "Christ-like" It is impossible for Christians to be Christ. We can demonstrate Christ-like behavior but remember Jesus was without sin, He was perfect. We are not. Christians have to repent everyday as we pray. When we try and follow what the Bible teaches we are called bigots and homophobic, why? We are just following what the Lord would have us to do and that is to spread the good news of Jesus.

  • Survey Reveals Which Pastors Get Paid Most

    Thu Oct 04, 2007 5:55 am Agree: 4   Disagree: 0

I work for 3 pastors and I can tell you, they EARN their salaries. You forget that a Pastor's position is a 24/7 job. They not only do the work of the church but also do ministry work outside the church. I do feel sorry for them at times because they have to work long hours and have to deal with all sorts of people and have very little family time. Yes, they have made the choice to do this but to not be paid, well how in the world would they survive. How would you like to go to your place of employment and be told that you will not be paid for all the work you do?? Also, the church leadership decide on the Pastor's salary and benefits. The church leaders are the ones making these decisions on salaries, if you have a problem, then maybe you should bring it up to them.

  • Study: Christianity No Longer Looks Like Jesus

    cshth »
    Wed Sep 26, 2007 6:40 am Agree: 10   Disagree: 2

What concerns me here is that when we try and be like Jesus and love the sinner and not the sin, the sinner then comes into the church and starts demanding changes to God's word. Jesus did tell the sinner to "go and sin NO MORE", not "oh, I still love you and you don't have to change anything, just keep on doing what your doing, and I will still love you." There has to be a heart change for those who come to the Lord.

If she had mentioned Muhammud or anyone in the Jewish faith, she would be blasted immediately because this is about Christianity it is a free pass. Hollywood needs to practice what they preach about "tolerance". If she had made a "gay" slur or "racial" slur, she wouldn't be working anymore and have to make public service anouncements for GLAAD.

This isn't going to happen in Israel. The Jewish people and Muslims will not allow this. Christians have a hard enough time over in Israel. Muslims will not allow this to go through.

  • Survey: More Americans Have Negative View of Immigrants

    cshth »
    Tue Jul 17, 2007 6:40 am Agree: 1   Disagree: 0

I agree with dhster. I believe that most Americans are upset with "illegal" immigration. I am not opposed to those who wish to come here but they must do it in the confines of U. S. law. If they break our laws, they should be sent home. Illegals should have no rights in our country because they have broken our laws. Trying going to Mexico as an illegal, you will end up in jail because you have no rights under Mexican law. I think another reason the American people are upset is that many immigrants, not necessarily Hispanics are coming here and not assimulating to the culture, refusing to learn the language. I've been in some stores and felt like a foreigner because it seems like NO one speaks English anymore!!!
