  • Dear President-elect Obama

Thank you for such a clear, concise piece on how most Republicans feel after this election. I often hear arguments about how the Republican party will fail if it still continues to vote solely on the basis of being pro-choice, but your argument would be hard to refute amongst moderate democrats. We should never cave in on our pro-life beliefs, particularly not when the ideas expressed here have a clear action plan for how to reduce abortion. Even the most liberal component of the democratic party would have a hard time reasoning against the logic you presented here. Thank you!!

  • New ACLU President to Counter Anti-Religion 'Misimpression'

It would be one thing if the ACLU were just anti religious, but they are not; they are specifically anti-Christian. One just needs to look at their law suites - there is no hidden agenda. So while they, like Obama, may say one thing, you have to look at the record. One the one hand, they sue relentlessly when Christian symbols are present (nativity scenes, crosses, graduation speeches that mention one's Christian faith, displays of the 20 Commandments, etc) and on the other hand support causes in which non-Christian wish to express their religious freedoms (i.e. Wiccans, including pro-Islamist histories in our schools' texts). In sum, if you want to really know what there about, don't take their word for it; look to their actions. It's clear!

I have two boys and I'm glad there is a young lady in the entertainment business that we all find adorable. I've watched most of the shows with them and I've never seen anything offensive. If only more girls had the strength to display love and respect for family (and all while being fully clothed!!) we might give our own girls more options for how to "fit in" with their peers. I just pray she doesn't ever fall victim of the Hollywood scene. She's such a success already - she's serving her Lord and His people. Keep it up Miley!

  • Why Muslims Convert

I do believe it is only a matter of time before more and more Muslims begin to convert. It is not possible for these repressive governments to keep information from people any longer. The only religions that co-exist with democracy (or freedom of thought) are Judaism and Christianity. Just another reminder that our Lord made us in his image to have free-will for a reason - to use it. He never intended us to be forced to believe or worship, but to want to worship Him.

Just goes to show why Islam can only survive in areas where there is no freedom of speech and the press. Those clips on utube are so bogus. I know many people are fed this rubbish in Arab countries and I suppose if you don't have access to real historical documents and scholarly information, what else do you know? I mean the fact that most Arabs still believe Israel was formed in 1948....and that they have no right to the land.....? Well who did the Roman Empire rule and who's temple did they burn down in 70 A.D.? Who were the slaves in Egypt, desperately trying to get back to their homeland? Even the pharoahs (non Jew/non Christian) history tell these stories...? I don't know how to even have a discussion with people who blatantly ignore the facts.

Where the intellectual divide happens for me about Islam is this.....As a person born into Christianity, I accepted it. As an adult, I had to study my faith on my own to make sure it really made sense to me. Doing so, I discovered that I better study Judaism and make sure that Christianity didn't negate anything. There is no Christianity with Judaism. It's as simple as that! The one completes the other. Now 600 years after Jesus, some dude in the desert (that has no history with either Judaism or Christianity) runs into Jews and Christians during his travels. Of course, they both sound appealing and enviable. One all-powerful God, the best moral code out there, salvation...Suddenly Mohammed gets a revelation from the Judeo-Christian Angel, Gabriel? Now if he did, why would are there so many major contradiction in what we see in the life of Mohammed - multiple wives, changing the role of Jesus, no more mention of the importance/value of women/female prophets...? There's a huge list, but just the fact that he had multiple wives along should be a HUGE, HUGE, HUGE obvious sign that this new religion has nothing to do with the faith of Abraham and his descendants.

"But isn't it a Christian belief that Jesus rose from the dead? Didn't Jesus die on a cross?"

No, it is the Christian belief that by laying down his life, he conquered death once and for all. I implore you, read the Gospels in their entirety and ask for the Holy Spirit (wether you believe in God or not) to guide your knowledge while you read (i.e. read with a curious, open-mind to seek knowledge). That's how you know what Christianity is. You can't take sound bites or expect a Christian to be able to answer in a concise manner something that our modern material culture has so few words to define.

To address your question about an interfering God...well if a creator made something (like us) don't you think we at least to know the rules from the one who made us. He laid them down pretty clearly in the Old Testaments and blessedly, many Jews kept his laws alive. But because we were created in His image (meaning we MUST have free will) we can choose to follow those laws or disobey them and too often we disobey them to our demise and God's displeasure. God made his word flesh "to dwell amongst us" to show us the way, the truth, and the light. He did so through Jesus.

  • Five Years Later, Where are the Christians in Iraq?

There were no WMDs found in Iraq b/c by the time the international community actually got to take a look they had all been convoyed into Syria. Yes, there's satalite footage to back that up. If you don't believe there were ever WMD then wow, you really, really, really are just ignoring the behavior of Iraq at the time despite the dozens upon dozens of UN mandates they ignored from the UN (not the U.S., the UN).

    And x86,
Perhaps one of the most central tenants of Christianity is that Jesus is the word made flesh (i.e. God). There is only one God, in all his glory, he takes on many forms. Think of water - it can be a solid (ice), a gas (fog) and a liquid. No matter it's shape (and it moves between all three all the time) it's still water. God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are all the one in the same. Same God expressing Himself if different ways. That's what the trinity means - One God (just as in the Old Testament) in three forms/realms.

The court does deserve scrutiny here as it was a very deliberate intention on their part to rule against home schooling despite the law. If they actually did their job (examine the law while keeping their bias at bay) it would have been beyond obvious their decision was contrary to law. Current California law does NOT require private school teachers to be licensed (and in fact many are not). Further, our constitution....remember that document that is supposed to be the supreme law of the land and supercedes any other state or federal laws that are contrary to it....does protect a parents right on how to educate their children. The fact that they so blatantly chose to disregard the constitution AND precedent quite frankly means they are not fit to judge at all.

By the way I have two boys in public school, don't home school, and am a public school teacher myself (high school). Every year the smartest kids that would arrive as my freshman were kids who up to that point had been home schooled. Thank you home schooling parents - you have been doing an awesome job!

Everyone - Christian or atheist should read C.S. Lewis' "Mere Christianity." For Christians, it will help provide you with some of the logic for believing as you (and I) do - even though religion isn't based on materialism, in today's day and age the whole world wants us to be able to explain our faith on their terms (i.e. materialism/logic). Lewis can do those so eloquently - he's a marelous bridge between faith and rationalism. I would challenge atheists to read the book before they make such bold claims. It helps explain God on your terms (the materialist point of view, which most Christians have difficulty doing).
