There is something profoundly hypotricical about someone who appeals to Christian tradition to support the ancient principle of one bishop per city but rejects much more moral teachings of that same tradition. A bishop who embraces heresy, including moral heresy loses his authroity to lead the people of God. If one truly believes in the authority of Christian tradition they have no choice but to reject the authroity of a bishop who rejects Biblical teaching on moral issues.

I wonder what is the use of forming this new body. If they are in communion with Canterbury, they are in communion with the American Episcopal Church. From an Orthodox point of view this means that they are in doctrinal agreement with Canterbury and every bishop in communion with Canterbury.

I do not understand why any Anglican would consider submitting to Rome and accepting Purgatory, manditory celibacy, and the papacy. Instead, they should do what I and thousands of other former Anglicans have done. They should turn to the Orthodox Church, which has preserved without corruption the beliefs and practices of the ancient undivided Church of the Apostles, Holy Fathers and Ecumenical Councils. Although most Orthodox follow the Byzantine Rite, some parishes of the Antiochian Archdiocese use the Western Rite corrected to conform to Orthodox doctrine. The Western Rite uses two texts for the Mass, Tridentine and 1928 Book of Common Prayer.

On our own we are little more than bits of stone and glass. Together we are the Body of Christ. Holy Bible: Mosaic is an invitation to experience Christ in His Word and in the responses of his people. Each week, as you reflect on guided Scripture readings aligned with the church seasons, you will receive a wealth of insight from historical and contemporary writings.
