"The Kingdom of God needs a home to equal them – a spiritual oasis in the middle of downtown."

WOW! How presumptious of any pastor. Another monument to men. Shame, shame, shame.

I honestly believe that God is doing to denominations what he did at the Tower of Babel. Pride got in the way and he dispersed them.

I see no context for denominations in scripture.

DeYoung says, "And Sunday morning worship, he notes, isn't about coming together for a few songs and an oration."

I say - bull! Every church I've been in the last 2.5 years is exactly that. And, I've been in dozens. I long for a true expression of what Jesus created. Haven't found it yet.

The only part of surveys like this I trust is -

Survey results are based on interviews with 9,232 adults, 280 of whom identified as homosexual or bisexual. They were conducted between January 2007 and November 2008

I wish ECPA well, but does anyone see any correlation here? An organization charged with promoting Christian books, authors, and retailers - isn't effective in promoting its own event. No wonder Christian retailing is in trouble.

The Bible says that "...shepherds were watching their flocks by night... Shepherds don't do that in winter. So Jesus was most probably born during one of the other three seasons. I tend to believe around one of the Jewish fall festivals.

    Incredible!

“We have a growing evangelistic deficit in America that will best be answered by starting new churches.”

So in other words - instead of people in existing churches BEING the church, let's start new churches. Let's invest and pour a bunch of resources into new buildings, etc, when there are thousands of buildings standing vacant as is.

How about going in and restoring what's there versus "let's just start a new church"? I'll tell you why. Because it's hard work!

    Still incredible!

  • Churches Urged to be More Artist-Friendly, Transform Culture

Yes - Online4Him, "more artist friendly!" Not to the exclusion of anyone else, but the Church needs to reach out to artists as it would to any other group and value their gifting. Are they not part of the body?

Can they not be a part of "transforming culture? I'm not sure what you are afraid of...
