  • Survey: Most Britons Say Religion is Sexist, Discriminates Against Gays

Society is changing, religion also needs to adapt however difficult it may seem. Imagine what went through the minds of heretics when one fine day society said "Only One GOD"!!! All we need to do is change the rituals to make them more accommodating. I am sure God will still love us...

msnchris70 - My observation was not meant to offend the RC church. I wish someone up the chain of command can put their foot down & ask at least ask their bishops to fall in line.

What's next "I'm gay"!!! Well, Florida can charge a premium for this & make loads of money for charity. On a serious note, my only concern is that this will open flood gates for every pressure group to have their own message.

Comeon' you guys, show some respect to the Pope. Least you can do is shake hands with him. I am sure the divisions cannot be bridged in a day, but it will be a great gesture. Boycotting something like this sends only wrong signals. Learn a bit from Dalai Lama, in spite of all the brutality, he is always ready to shake hands with the communists. Peace!!

Finally!!! It was long overdue. Anglicans have been for me a bunch of very progressive minded folks. I always wondered why the Anglican church is always so slow when it comes to accomodating women when its practinioners are overwhelmingly non-discriminatory in nature. Anyway, all's well that ends well. All the best Bishop Kay Goldsworthy!!!

It all boils down to where are the Roman catholic church's priorities. I always admired them for being steadfast in their commitment to Education & healthcare. But as all communities in America, "Money" rules. The RC church is not able to convince their members to sacrifice or work for a pittance. Its really a sad state indeed.

I guess social division are more deeper & religion cannot really replace the historical tensions. People always find ingenius ways to discriminate against the "other". We have seen this even in Rawanda. It was bad enough that christians were killing their fellow men in such barbarbaric manner. What was worse was the role played by local bishops & priests in instigating & sometimes even urging the mobs to massacare!!! But, one thing that runs common when we find such occurances in Latin america or Africa/ Asia, 8/10 times it is the Catholics. I always wondered why?

  • Obama Promises to 'Usher' Gay Employment Bill

For all those who say it is un-christian, I have this to say " LGBT's in this country are also christians!!!!" They are our breatheren. Just like in a family, we accomodate divergent viewpoints on the dinner table, we should show compassion & understanding to their needs. If we beleive GOD is responsible for creating all human beings, then we need to understand it is the same GOD who has created people with tendencies towards homosexuality. I am not a big fan of Obama, but we need to support any legislation that is good for our country. God Bless America!!!!
