"Our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God," she said. "That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that plan is God's plan."
Somehow I don't see Jesus leading his apostles with bayonets and camouflage after insurgents.
What message defacing your "second-most-expensive piece of property" will send? I'm not a fan of bumper stickers of any kind but I am curious about your statement. My story doesn't have the answer in it so I thought you might be able to help me understand.

Is it arrogant to call someone arrogant? I don't buy this truth-claim stuff it sounds like someone saying "I'm right and you're wrong" rather than loving someone as Jesus teaches us. Sounds alot like religion. Why not just love people sacrificially and forget about spouting off what we believe. Isn't that the freedom that is the good news? Isn't that truly humble? Why does there have to be a caveat on this humble orthodoxy?

Did I miss something? What climate-change-fighting policies exactly are the "We Get It" people against? I thought the article talked more about the argument than the issues. I'll check out the website.

I don't understand the significance of this action other than another couple churches spending tens of thousands to meet and talk over powers and principalities within their own clubs while the widows, orphans, sick, thirsty, hungry, and poor go happily about their merry way.
By the way, this forum is getting very petty and nasty. Didn't Paul say that we should be of one mind? It sounds like we're splitting the one mind between us......
Don't be led into petty religion, there is too much to do.

msnchris70,
all that will claim to know will lack wisdom, those that believe they have chosen the straight and narrow path will find themselves lost, those who love will live. Your words are like another brand on my heart that is broken after reading this story.

handy, meeting in a church building doesn't make people give more. 1. I get 10 envelopes a week from great ministries needing support. People who understand the blessing of giving will give, just not to run the air and heat on a huge space with no one in it the majority of the time. 2. People who understand the blessing of giving don't care about tax incentives, they care about their neighbor. 3. Churches spend money on big TV's, cellphones, and DSL computer service too, together with money meant for more worldly endeavors such as battling freedom of choice, or supporting it (depending on the churches you want to look at) among other things that are way to numerous to mention.
All4Him, in this information age it is much more likely that heresy will be spread by a large mainstream church than in a house church simply because it is more comfortable to disagree in front of a dozen people than it is in front of a whole sanctuary full of people.
The church I went to was all about numbers, lets hook 'em and let God clean 'em. What is that? Is that the Gospel? It is much easier to incarnate the good news from the setting of a house church. Once you create a board you unleash the "powers and principalities" etc. that destroy the church, not build it.

Ifeelfine72,
Ruth and Naomi had husbands and children, not wives. David and Johnathon? They too had wives and children, where did it portray them as homosexual? I have loving relationships with men too, my son, my father, my brothers-in-law, my friends, but I'm not homosexual. What does sex have to do with love? I do not follow your reasoning.

feetxxxl,
<<for all those who say scripture says that homosexuality is a sin. please explain (no one........ i mean not one has been able to explain) romans 1:24-27 what lie was exchanged for what truth>>
The lie was idolatry - which is specified in "22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things." which is basically disobeying the first two commandments. Remember we are talking about Rome but idolatry is another word for materialism, to contextualize this.
When the Bible I read says "given over to" where God sort of just withdraws his hands, it means destruction. I can't say that because God acted on the Romans like he did in these verses that every homosexual relationship is meant only for sexual satisfaction no more than I can say that every heterosexual relationship is based on love (one person's devinition may not even closely resemble another's). But I can say that the man-man and woman-woman relationships in the Bible did not have a very productive end, nor were they ever portrayed as glorifying God - which is what we should hope to do, gay or straight, drunk or sober, obese or healthy, rich or poor, weak or strong. He takes us as we are and makes us anew.

Chris333, Did Jesus go to the Samaritan woman and tell her that she was evil? How must we, as followers of Jesus Christ, live through him? It is not a figure of speach, it is a way of life. This is a political struggle between the powers of the world, no one can stop you from living as Jesus did nor will they. Your life will be so filled with love and peace that no one could come against it. That is why Paul said that our battle is not with flesh and blood. Be strong against your desire to overthrow Islam in a worldly sense - you are only joining Satan in battle against the God of Love. Now, if you are so privileged to be asked to choose between Jesus and death, let God be glorified as John the Baptist glorified him. The love of Christ grew exponentially as Christians were martyred in the first 8 centuries after Christ's birth, death, and ressurection. Tolerance doesn't have to mean acceptance but it does mean upholding another's dignity, freedom of choice, and inclusion in the Cosmos that John 3:16 talks about. The only evil you or I need to overcome with violence and hate is that which proceeds from our own dark hearts.

I don't have a scripture to quote but I do understand that 'through Jesus' means more than just saying he is fully God or saying that he died for 'once for all' or even agreeing that he is seated at the right hand of the father. ja ever think that maybe it means to do like Jesus did? Love God by bringing glory to him through your life and works and love your neighbor by putting their well-being above and beyond your own. kc95819, we are liars too. annie, Jesus didn't say through him, he said by him. I take that to mean we better look alot like him when as we go through life and that is what will matter, not what we say but what our hearts look like (ie the good Samaritan, was he theologically correct and if not why did he present such a sound example that Jesus would use him as one?). pburwell, how do you know what God will bless? God blessed Jacob, a liar and a thief, God blessed David, an adulterer and a murderer, God blesses who he chooses and you or I nor anyone knows who that will be. mcfbc, if we do only the things that we believe will work where does that leave God? With only our feeble efforts? Fullgospel and holito, RIGHT ON!

"The crowd is untruth" Soren Kierkegaard.
No other person speaks for me. Those that sign their names to represent christianity lack humility. Just DO. Truth is what actually happens, not what you say you believe will happen or what you would like to have happen. Make shalom not big fat waves of hot air.
Just shut up and do something. Signing your name or creepin out because someone else did isn't doing something. Help dig a well, bring a homeless person into your home, give some money to micro-finance. Stop worrying about all the so-called leaders. Let some fat head worry about theology. The Kingdom of God is in the heart, not the mind or the building or the "10 million copies sold". Leaders are those that sit and mourn and weep over broken shalom and leaders are also those that will live lives of sacrifice so others can be lifted just an inch out of suffering. YOU BE THE LEADER AND LET CHRIST SPEAK THROUGH YOU.
On our own we are little more than bits of stone and glass. Together we are the Body of Christ. Holy Bible: Mosaic is an invitation to experience Christ in His Word and in the responses of his people. Each week, as you reflect on guided Scripture readings aligned with the church seasons, you will receive a wealth of insight from historical and contemporary writings.
