  • Cambodia Bans Evangelism; Accuses Christians of 'Disrupting Society'

I was in Phnom Penh last month and spent a great deal of time with local Christians and leaders in the church. Having that context, I would argue that this is a good thing that the government has done. It will keep Christians from resorting to the manipulative practices that we are so guilty of doing "in the name of the gospel". Tactics such as giving away rice or cakes in order to "convert" someone.
I know for a fact that some of the Christian leaders I spent time with will be thrilled with this new law since their work has been hurt by these disingenuous practices. May the Cambodian people see that we care for them and their needs simply because they are human, created in the Image of God.
