  • Grassley Still Waiting on Preachers Under Financial Scrutiny

Oh my Kaishinden79 is on fire!! One acquainted with history knows the tremendous danger of government being involved in religion. Our forefathers knew. There are huge reasons that Grassley is out of line requesting information from a church or religious institution....and it has nothing to do with money or how it is being used. IRS already has power to determine whether money is being misused. Grassley is going to determine what a church should and should not spend money on? The power to control the money is the power to control the church. This is a mine field. We don't want the government involved in religion. If donors want to give money to people without knowing how it is spent - that is their right. The government does not need to protect the people from themselves....especially in religion. People spend money all the time for booze and the government doesn't stop them. And people selling liquor get real rich and drive Bently's and no one yells hypocrite. You haven't begun to see trouble until you see the government sticking its nose in YOUR religion. Possibly the writer of the previous message has not had the opportunity to read much about the persecution of religion by governments in the past.
