Sexual fantasy, pornography, masturbation, fornication, adultry, incest, homosexuality, child-abuse, rape, beastiality are branches on the root sin. You are trying to explain away a sinful behavior by suggesting that bonding is not as sinful as rape. You are trying to establish that your opinion on sin is greater than God's truth. It is very hard to admit to oneself that a cherished belief is wrong.

I do not say these things to you lightly. I find it personally very difficult to order my life around God's truth. But I have nearly 50 years of experience in doing the wrong thing. I am an expert in sin. Holding on to the truth, even in my failure, is the most liberating of all things.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and lean not on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.

Thou shalt not commit adultry. Anything outside the covenant marriage of one man and one women is sin. It's a simple answer. Difficult for everyone, including me.

EZEKIEL 16:48-50 is taken out of context by ifeelfine72. We must begin at vs. 1 and read the entire chapter 16 to understand that the Lord is condemning Jerusalem for a multitude of sins. Ezekiel's prophetic allegory reaches a feverish peak at vs. 20-24 (NIV):

"And you took your sons and daughters whom you bore to me and sacrificed them as food to the idols. Was your prostitution not enough? You slaughtered my children and sacrificed them to idols. In all your detestable practices and your prostitution you did not remember the days of your youth, when you were naked and bare and kicking about in your blood.
Woe, woe to you, declares the Sovereign LORD. In addition to all your other wickedness, you built a mound for yourself and made a lofty shrine in every public square."

When Ezekiel evokes the story of Sodom, it is by comparison to Jerusalem's sins (vs. 49-50 NIV):

"Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned: they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen."

“As you have seen”…? What were the “detestable things”? Where have we seen this? We have seen it in Genesis 18:20 and 19:4-5:

"Then the LORD said, 'The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not I will know"…

… “Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom – both young and old – surrounded the house. They called to Lot, ‘Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out so that we can have sex with them.’”

The reason that Jerusalem’s sin is greater than Sodom is because Jerusalem had His law, and His temple and His presence in the Holy of Holies…and yet Jerusalem sacrificed their own children to other gods. This is a violation of the first commandment to “have no other gods before me” …Child sacrifice to other gods may be the lowest, darkest blasphemy.

So Sodom’s sins, among them homosexuality, are not really let off the hook in this passage. We have to remember that we are all sinners. Not one of our sins is acceptable to God. Homosexuality is a sin. Divorce is a sin. Greed is a sin. Lying is a sin…. If we do not recognize our sin, then we are still in it, and have not repented of it. If we have not repented and asked for forgiveness, then we have not received forgiveness.

The root problem of homosexual politics is that, like divorce and abortion politics, it takes a sin and seeks to use the laws of man to usurp the laws of God. This is why disciples of Christ are opposed to homosexual politics. This is why we are opposed to abortion (child sacrifice). This is why we are opposed to divorce. These things are against God’s law.

  • Rick Warren: Mainline Church Problems Need Evangelical Solution

Let's give Pastor Warren fair ground on tithing. How many of you can give 90%? I know I can't. Although criticized by some as being too doctrinally weak, A PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE fills a need and provides a bridge to faith for unbelievers. It helped me and my children. Paul spoke of the young believer needing milk...Well if APDL is not milk...at least it is baby formula. We've moved on to meatier stuff...Yes understanding the Bible takes work...but it is not hard. Let's acknowledge the truly Christian service that Pastor Warren has provided with APDL, and don't begrudge the bountiful fruit of thousands of readers who were turned to the Lord. As far as I can see, his financial wealth is blessing. We don't have to agree with everything any Pastor says or does...Remember not to judge…We all sin.
