Medicare not perfect to be sure, no system is. however, without millions of seniors would have no coverage, private insurer not going to cover high risk- business 101.

Perhaps health care should be limited to only those that can afford it, from what I see Xians on CP are saying exactly that - survival of the fittest.less

What you think of unfunded medicare part D drug discount republicans pushed thru congress in 2003. estimated cost of unfunded liability from 2008 to 2018 is expected to be 730 billion dollars (not counting interest to cover the borrowing from the program). this is your "conservative" friends, nothing to do with obama.

And as a favor to large pharma, by the design of the program, the federal government is not permitted to negotiate prices of drugs with the drug companies, as federal agencies do in other programs. and to think many of the crafters of the legislation were good ol Xian republicans.....niceless

I have wondered the same thing. part of the answer i think, is much of the population is for large military and right to have guns. repubs are viewed as more pro military and pro guns than demo's. i recall a conversation with a blue collar union worker at a company I use to work, he voted straight repub and i pointed out he was voting against his own self-interests. his one and only reason, as ridiculous as it was, demo's were going to take away his guns........you cant fix stupid..less
