DP, I have many friends that live in canada and throughout europe. About a dozen or so, almost all have some minor complaint about their health care systems, but overall believe them to work pretty well and happy with them. Health care is expensive with the advent of new technologies, etc, so we as a nation have decided if you are healthy enough to work at an employer with health insurance, you will have great health care. If not, you will not have good health care.

One way to address the funding problem is to have everyone pay some premium for health insurance, especially the young. I say give people the choice to pay into health insurance plan, if they decline, have them sign the dotted line where they decline and if they get sick, they are on their own...

As far as Medicare is concerned that you seem to oppose, what insurance company is going to provide health insurance to old folks that are very likely to requires lots of medical service? thats why it is important to have young people paying into the system to spread the risk and bring more funding into the system.

Your idea of more people chipping in more to help others is a nice quaint idea, but will do little to address health care funding..

All the republicans seemed interested in was demagoguery with health care. Guess they didnt see a political advantage for themselves as when they forced thru unfunded medicare part D as they attempted to buy the senior vote. they also opposed to deny obama any success with health care reform.....less

You join the ranks of millions of children without health insurance, much of it due to the fact their parents lost their jobs and thereby their health insurance. In addition, in order to have affordable health insurance in america, one needs to be healthy enough to hold a job and to have a job where the employer offers insurance, otherwise the children go without. There are millions of parents that dont make enough to afford health care insurance in that they work where health insurance is not offered, their children go without.

The US is the only major industrialized country in the world where millions of its children go without health insurance. But, at least we have a kick azz military.

Consider this, the very same members of congress opposed to universal health insurance have the best health care money can buy, much of it funded by the the tax payer.

The thing I find interesting, among all you Xians so concerned for the fetus, seem to lose interest once it pops out........who cares if they get decent health care...
