It is ridiculous that anyone thinks teaching abstinence is the answer to teenage sex. Some kids are going to do it, some are not, but wasting taxpayer money on something that has happened since the beginning of time and will continue to happen well into our future indicates just how removed from reality Bush really is. If you want to do your kids a favour, teach them about condoms and the birth control pill, don't delude yourself into thinking that making them sit through a lecture on the evils of sex before marriage is going to affect whether or not they do it. Remember how you reacted to people in authority telling you what to do when you were younger? Same deal people, but these days, there's a lot more at stake. Nevermind pregnancy, what about Aids, herpes, syphilis, HPV etc.? Wouldn't you rather your child did it safely and smartly instead of stupidly and deadly?
