  • Pittsburgh Anglicans Seek 'Christian Way' to Resolve Property Dispute

If any church wants to leave the Episcopal Church USA then they should not be allowed to take any Church assets with them. The time is long overdue for the Anglican and Episcopal Churches to stop being blackmailed and coerced by these renegade malcontents.

  • Pastor: New Life Will Recover from New Allegations

I think too much attention is being given to Ted Haggard and his sexual proclivities. New Life Church should get over it and move on. That's exactly what happens when faith is put in the pastor or leader of a church, rather than that same faith being put where it should be; in God. I saw Haggard and his wife doing the "television circuit" this past week and his asking for forgiveness was nearly nauseating. His wife and children put up a good front, but I don't buy any of it. It's hard to believe that they didn't know for years about his sexuality, and I'm sure there are many more young men and other places that do know that Haggard likes young men.

What really bothers me is the fact that for so many years Haggard preached so convincingly against homosexuality and no doubt made some young gay people even more confused. And now rather than apologize to them he is hand-wringing and apologizing to his former congregants; adults, who "drunk the kool-aid." That to me is the worst kind of hypocrisy. Haggard now says he is "heterosexual with issues." Give me a break! I'm not for "outing" anyone but, when is this man going to truly "come out of the closet" and stop this charade? He is doing more harm to himself and his family than good.

As an African-American gay male I find this Haggard business, the homophobic furor in my church; the Episcopal Church, and the anti-gay attitude of many mainline churches in the USA to be disgusting. Give it a rest and get on to the business of truly helping people as there is so much to do rather than worrying about others' bedroom affairs. By the way; how does it affect a heterosexual married couple if I were to marry a man?

    Peace.

Finally, someone has the chutzpah to stand up to the renegade parishes. If they want to leave, fine. But, why should they be allowed to keep the Mother Church's property? They can't have it "their way," and think it's all right. Not!

I just wonder how many in-the-closet gay people are joining and giving support to this "new Anglican body?" By doing so, they continue to live their lies and are contributing to the fragmrentation of the American Episcopal Church, the Anglican Church of Canada and are ultimately sabotaging themselves.

I said; "from my readings." I never indicated that my readings were solely from the Bible. If anyone is interested in another view and clarification, I suggest they read; A Comprehensive Study of "The Bible, Christianity & Homosexuality" by Justin R. Cannon. It's unfortunate that certain churches and dioceses have chosen to align themselves with so-called "more traditional" dioceses and bishops. Did they ever stop to think that the African and South Asian bishops come from very patriarchal societies, and they are actually regressing rather than progressing in faith. It's not about gay people in the church or women priests/bishops, it's about control and taking orders (if you will) from people from Third World societies who have a basic antipathy for most things Western.

It disgusts me that the Archbishop of Canterbury has "punked out" on this whole schism thing and seems to be loathe to say anything, one way or another. A parallel province to the US Episcopal Church/Anglican Church of Canada is not valid and should be treated as the marginal up-start is really is. The churches who choose to leave the Episcopal Church should not be allowed to take any church property whatsoever, as all property should belong to the Episcopal Church and remain there.

As an African-American, Episcopalian and gay man it saddens and angers me that there is such carrying-on about a gay bishop, homosexuality and all of the other so-called "progressive issues." From my readings, there is absolutely no biblical basis against homosexuality and to allow homophobia to tear the Church apart is unseemly to me.

And to Bishop Schori; until the Church gets it act together, the press will continue with the negstive press and derision. By not being firm and by being a Casper Milquetoast, the Church continues to invite this type of negative scrutiny.

Much ado about nothing! If these disaffected Episcopalians and Anglicans want to form their own province, then let them. Just be sure that they take nothing from the existing church; building, etc.

In my estimation, these people are not at all spiritual, but are caught up in phony religiosity. To think that they allowed themselves to be worked into a snit because a dedicated man of God, Bishop Gene Robinson, was consecrated a bishop. These are the same type of people who would vigorously oppose integration and equal rights for all.

Let them be on their way. I say good riddance to bad rubbish!
