Funny about your comments about the party of god.
'The average American still believes that hard work, not handouts form the backbone of the economy.'
many middle class americans are working hard but corporate greed is making less opportunities for the middle class. more tax breaks for the rich is like a hand out.
'...deep down in his or her heart that life is precious'.
Oh really, bombing another country that kills innocent women & children are the hallmarks of 'life is precious'?

yes, dr. beam is just that an ACADEMIC EXPERT just like the pharisees & the experts in the law in christ time.
the republican party the sinless, perfect holy party of god.

If the Iraq war is not about oil, then where are the US marines to overthrow the junta of mynmar (aka as burma) & restore freedom & democracy? what about the humanitarian chaos in Chad? or the recent election killings in Kenya? where are the f-15s f-16s heading & carrier battle groups that is sailing towards these troubled countries where FREEDOM & DEMOCRACY is being destroyed?

Look at where it got this country when 60% of american thought that this president is guided by the bible. is this president practicing what the bible talk about responsiblity, accountability, humility, wisdom. hmm...from 2000 - 2008, love of money was used to guide this president instead of love of god; arrogance instead of humility, false witness against thy neighbor instead of wisdom; & labelling those who are against his policies. and finally, professing to be a christian in order to get the votes of those who blindly followed him.

"If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me"

I saw a sunday 'service' & a pastor named Rick Bernal of Jubilee church in San Jose Ca. was preaching about being RICH - (abundant in $$$). he said he read joel osteen's book & proclaimed that 'HE CHOSE TO BE RICH THAN POOR'. IS this 'DENYING SELF & CARRYING THE CROSS & FOLLOWING CHRIST?' and where did he get this $$$ if he does not have a job? the tithe that is suppose to help & uplift the poor, suffering & rejected? john the baptist did not have any house & steak on his plate. He lived in the wilderness & ate grasshoppers. NOW THAT IS DENIAL OF SELF! I wonder if pastors / tele evangelist will put this DENIAL OF SELF in practice. WHAT A BUNCH OF HYPOCRITES!!

what about exploiting the book of Malachi. pastors/teleevangelist are ranking in millions of $$$ using this book. where does it say in the bible for pastors to get paid $7800/month? here is another scam worth investigating.

Pat robertson of the 0700 club will tell you, after you prayed the prayer of salvation, to call the 1800 0700 & they will sent you envelopes asking for your money. pat can interpret any verse in the bible according to Pat robertson. that is why he is not worried bec. he is ranking millions of $$$ & does not deal with stress, politics & job loss. JUST SENT ME THE MONEY!

chris - did not richard nixon started SALT 1 & talked to the chinese? SALT 2 was the prelude to the START treaties. even reagan supported noriega, saddam.
when the plan to free the hostage failed at least carter took responsibility for it he did not blame others like bush does.
eisenhower took the responsibility when a U2 piloted by powers was shot down in the soviet union. he did not blame the cia.
while bush blamed the cia for 911 & iraq war in which 6000 are dead, katrina happened, W blamed brown, 100 died. what kind of a leader is bush when he blames everybody, everyone for the decisions he makes & not take the responsiblities. if you say that it is an intelligence problem regarding 911 & iraq, then if the cia tells bush to jump off a cliff, he will decide to do so? bush & co. are itching to have a war.

hyperion overseer - I am not going to apologise but I am thanking didymus, he is right bush is not the way to salvation. you know that is biblical, christ opposed the pharisees, experts in the law, & they labeled him illigimate. so, if christ oppose this war are you going to label him as liberal, leftist, communist, opposers of bush & he will burn in hell? duh.

to tonkatweety - first of all, aren't the pastors/teleevangelist messengers of god? they should set the example in their pointing to sins & not break them. wouldn't it be hypocritical for them to say that it is a sin to love self, then they would enrich themselves? the point is they would say that tithe is used in the ministry of god, yet they have multi million dollar homes, luxury cars & jets - spending 'god's tithe' for them'selves' . also why would these messengers of god point to sin then justify the very 'sins' they are condemning others for by saying 'ye not judge.' are these messengers of god relying on god or are they relying on themselves. Men will LOVERS OF MONEY & that includes pastors/tele evangelist. their teachings are childish & immature because they have not worked & dealt with job loss, politics & asskissing at work, stress, & getting paid $7.50/hr. they made their own church a business, where the CEO is the pastor whose average salary is $7800/month.

these evangelicals that applauded this president must either be wealthy who received tax cuts or they are blinded by the teachings from their pastor. there are more issues than pro-life or family values. how can a president preaches pro-life or pro family when declares himself as a 'war president' & lies in front of millions of families, then bombs a country that did not have any connection with 911 that kills women & children; pro life when he vetoes health insurance for children, family values when he abuses the authority he has given - unwarranted wiretapping, torture, greed, & disrespect for the constitution. his STATE OF THE union is nothing new. was recycled 5 times but in reality W has not accomplished nothing as far as the state of this union only tax cut for the wealthy. this last year of the bush presidency will be the same like the previous 5 yrs. I wonder what is the next scandal he will present to the families of this country.

to hyperion overseer - I do not have to say ill or slanderous about this president. the fact already speaks for itself.

at least carter made the israeli egyptian peace treaty possible & helped other people in other countries after his presidency was over. and he did try to release the hostages.

while bush did ABSOLUTELY nothing in his eight years as president. he made MORE suffering like katrina debacle, voted against healthcare for children, created more deficit, disrespected the constitution of the US, wasted $1.8 trillion on a war that is not connected with 911, 911 happened on bush's presidency which resulted in 6000 dead, blamed everybody except himself & his DECISIONs, & made the middle east more unstable. every year of this presidency, THERE IS SCANDAL!!

W for WORST president of the US.

to chris333 - adam did not have real freedom before he ate the fruit? then what do you call when he named the animals. did god tell him to name the animals this way or that way?
isn't that what is happening in the church? they would say that god / christian gave / say that we / us have free will/choice, then they would point to sin if when you start making your own free will/choices? isn't that also considered getting someone's approval? free will but it is a sin.

FINANCIAL TEACHINGS? what does the church say about money - that it is the 'root of all evil', 'be contented' with what you have for you will not bring it to heaven, & success is based on your 'tithe', get rid of money bec. you will burn in hell for having it, rich people do not enter heaven, blessed are the poor! well, pastors become filthy rich, have a multi million dollar homes, luxury cars for they think, cater their SELF', THEIR AVERAGE SALARY IS $7800/MONTH; lovers of money bec. they have mis used, abused, exploited malachi to manipulate believers in giving. they do not work, they do not deal with stress, politics, & a job loss. they use the same world system that these hypocritical pastors/teleevangelist condemn you for using so they can look good for jesus! give you 10% & god will take care of everything!

to lewr - the gospel is & in itself 'JUDGEMENTAL'.
what does the meaning of GOSPEL - it means GOOD NEWS, good story.
the article speaks for itself especially '...students who are dropping out are hearing one thing in church and seeing another thing in the lives of these churchgoers'.
the meaning of GOSPEL disappears bec. christians who are 'dysfunctional' -their relationship 'does not work' - give out more problems rather than solutions TO LIFE'S problems & sufferings. they add more weight on people who are already suffering. that is why the article is right when it said 'say one thing & do another'.
they think that being holy & sinless is the definition of the gospel or relationship. after a person becomes a christian, what next, due to 'conviction of sin' the gospel does become JUDGEMENTAL bec as you said it is anti-whatever you want to pick.
by the way, pro life, marriage & purity are not the only issues that face people. there are social & economic injustice, power, greed & abuse, arrogance & hypocrisy, lies & war.

RIGHT YOU ARE sportinlife! and not only that, presidents should uphold the constitution they swore with their right hand. right now bush & chaney think they are above the law. a gov't that does not have any OVERSIGHT is dictatorial & an INSULT TO THE CONSTITUTION! this president should be impeached in order for the gov't & the LAWS (which this nation is founded upon) to work again. chaney wants telecommunication immunity from warrantless wiretaps is abuse of power, dictatorial & being above the laws.
