Well put believer. I must say: I respect you for tolerating my less-than-diplomatic posts.

And it does not strike you as glaringly odd that God would sacrifice his child to redeem the world? It seemed his first plan of mass-execution through a great flood was at least more reasonable (and believable) to rid the world of "sin" (however you define it).

Mathlete - you are convinced that the mental health community is behind a conspiracy to recast homosexuality as natural. And you call atheism a religion. And you call yourself rational?

These are pretty hefty questions but your answers flow with such conviction. I'm still humbled by Socrates philosophy: I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing. Still the mark of an educated person in my opinion. And again believer I ask you: what was God's purpose for this? If you're an all-powerful deity who can do as you please, it sounds like sheer entertainment to me

Mathlete - your convictions and life philosophies are about as interesting as an eggplant or asphalt but more infuriating than a dictator. You have absolutely no logic-filter on the words coming out of your mouth. And such, you should rightly be mocked.

So WB - the entire APA is in on a big conspiracy, huh? All 140000 mental health professionals? Same for the AMA? And the American Anthropological Association? And the national association of social workers? All in on the conspiracy to recast homosexuality as natural? I guess all of Western Europe is too.

Does atheism cling to any pre-determined beliefs? No. Is it malleable? Yes. Is your sky-fairy belief malleable? No. That's why it's a religion is atheism is not. Would you also call me a non-astrologer or a non-alchemist because I don't accept either as rational?

Again mathlete: you are demonstrating just st*pid you are. Atheism is not a religion. It is simply stating the obvious. There is no evidence for God. Never was. Religion has nothing to add because its very foundations are fictional. Atheism, on the other hand, is built upon evidence.

Listen to all your disgusting hateful b.s. You will say and do anything to vindicate your ridiculous Bible verses.

You're right. You can't "pray the gay away." Which proves religion is a sham.

There's really nothing new to understand here. It's religion vs. science. The former always loses in the end because religion is a lie and science is truth. Period.

IGH - your petty divisions are music to a secularist's ears. Keep on fighting over nonsense!

So Matthew, if the Bible says, that settles it, right? No need to pay attention to all those mental health professionals who for the last 30 years have declared homosexuality a harmless, biological, immutable coincidence. Right? I mean, it's not like you can spend 10 years obtaining a PhD in human sexuality from Stanford. The Bible says it so I believe it! That said, why aren't you out making executing apostates and stoning disobedient children?

Believer - you don't think it's terribly offensive to call a peaceful victimless gay relationship "sinful?"

"Pope to Greet One of the World's Least Religious Nations" and wealthiest, happiest, best educated, creative, tolerant, and advanced. There always seems to be a heavy correlation between achievements and less religiosity. I guess its because the "devout" and the "pious" are too busy arguing over minute, unprovable, and frivolous details that separate their equally unprovable faiths. Doesn't leave much time for thinking outside the box now does it?

Breadbox - do you not see that gay relationships are not second class in this country? That does not bother you? Can you provide on scientifically-based objection to same-sex relationships? There are none whatsoever. As mentioned yourself, you have more homework to do. I have done mine. Why haven't you done yours?

Referencing a sky-fairy or claiming to be able interpret the opinions, likes, and dislikes of this invisible leprechaun should not presented as "proof" against same-sex marriage. Period. Gay men and women have tangible lives the consequences of your Bible-thumping are real.

The bottom line is this: There should be no talks between the religious and the secular. The religious have nothing to add, contribute, or say really. Regurgitating ridiculous Bible verse isn't philosophy or truth. It's annoying. The religious should be mocked for their views and permanently muzzled as to not disrupt progress, either scientific or socioeconomic.

So are lesbians better off than straight couples then?

Breadbox - think about your logic for just a second. They "can" get diseases over time. So can straight couples get diseases over time?
On our own we are little more than bits of stone and glass. Together we are the Body of Christ. Holy Bible: Mosaic is an invitation to experience Christ in His Word and in the responses of his people. Each week, as you reflect on guided Scripture readings aligned with the church seasons, you will receive a wealth of insight from historical and contemporary writings.
