I applaud the nae and their stance on illegal immigrants. Norski, you quote much scripture and that's great.

But let me quote one "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all soul and with all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself". That is our calling as Christians to loe all readically.

    New creation,
It does say you should be of good reputation. But is that before or after you become a follower of Christ. I am assuming these things occurred before he came to know Christ. I don't think you can hold those things against him. Otherwise none of us would qualify.

"Nothing in the health care package will reduce anybodys coverage."

Actually you are incorrect. Most people believe that when all this shakes out the gov't will offer a very basic health insurance plan that any business or individual can buy into. The insurance companies will be able to compete with this plan. Most businesses currently offer health insurance plans that are far better than the bare bones plan the gov't will offer. But, since the gov't plan is cheaper, most businesses will drop their better plans for whatever lesser plans the gov't or insurance companies offer. So there are millions of people who get health insurance coverage through businesses who will see their coverage drop.

    gguy,
"believer and delight: I don't know why some people are gay. But I'm also not the one making it an issue, you are."

What are you talking about. You are the one who originally brought the homosexual subject up? This article has nothing to do with homosexuality yet you are the one who tossed in the question about it. It sounds like you are the one making an issue of it.

    chaplainmichael,

You are making an assumption that the people involved with this are believers. I agree with you and applaud the church for reaching out in love. But we can't expect people in society who are not Jesus followers to respond with the same love. Unfortnately most Christians don't respond with this kind of compassion, so how can we expect the world to.

I don't get this article either. I am a pastor who ministers in a lower income area of our town that is largely Hispanic. I have never met a muslim in this neighborhood. I'm not sure why it is my responsibilty to have a conversation with a muslim. For me to gain an understanding of a muslims faith would do nothing to help my ministry. I am learning and growing through my relationships with Hispanics around me about their culture. I'm sure there are pastors out there who live in areas with larger muslim populations that this would benefit. But I'm sure there are many more leaders like myself who have little need for this.

As you would expect Full Gospel, I have learned much about the Catholic faith through my experiences with my hispanic neighbors. That is relevant to me.

I think this is a great thing. If the Christian faith is as real and true as many of us believe, there should be no fear of discussion and debate in public forums. Europe for years has been closed to even having such debates, so it sounds like atheists maybe helping the cause.

    So she deserves death threats?

You're right, it is a responsibility issue. And we as Christians are responsible. Responsible to help the least of these. The bad decisions the mother made should have no bearing on how we should respond. We should be responding in love both to the mom and the children.

I don't have any problem discussing the ethics of this and looking for solutions, but we should still be reaching out in love.

The lack of compassion is amazing to me. Do people honestly think that folks have children so they can live on welfare? I minister to the poor and I can assure this is not the case. There are a few examples, but most people I deal with just make stupid mistakes.

Why don't people who are so quick to judge people living on welfare have the same righteous indignation for all the Christians who are living in sin by driving around in their $50000 cars and living in their 5000 sq ft home hiding from the world in their little suburban gated community?

I am curious about where the outcry was over the last 8 years. When we had a republican led white house and for part of that time a republican led congress. Where was all the cries when former Pres. Bush dragged us into a war that has cost, and continues to cost us billions and billions and billions of dollars? Where were the cries when the former president cut taxes but continued to spend at an alarming rate?
