Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (JN 8:32)

You say it's a media-brewed controversy, and it certainly is, but don't act like the Christian Post wouldn't be reporting on it as a "flagrant assault on Judeo Christian values" if it accidentally looked like a muslim or hindu symbol.
I'm sure that God will raise up a generation of people like you at some point; I only hope that this happens after the rest of us are safe in heaven because I'd hate to think that the Lord would inflict such a plague on his faithful! Lord save us from pushy, self-satisfied youth pastors who dress like undercover cops and talk like they're running a pyramid scheme!

I hope that the people who go to these kinds of things find what they're looking for and continue to grow in their relationship with Christ, but I do have my concerns about this megachurch business and the way the gospel tends to get diluted into a meaningless melange of self-help rhetoric. Sometimes when I hear and see the "gospel" preached I feel like they see Christ less as the eternal lord and emperor of all time and space and more as an imaginary friend who will pop in and out of their lives whenever convenient.
May God speak to all of us and clear all falsehoods away from our hearts and minds with the cleansing sunlight of his Perfect Truth
Jehovahnissi I think I will take you up on your offer to not believe you. :P

Lecrae, Trip Lee and FLAME are the only ones I've heard before but they're all very talented young men who take the Great Commission very seriously and if those 3 are on this tour, I expect great things to come from this. No wishy washy "spiritual" stuff here, they speak the unedited, unvarnished John 3:3 gospel!
They show people's messages up on the screen? Do they edit the messages? I wonder if they ever have to deal with internet trolls during the middle of a sermon LOL

Oh no! First they're crashing planes into our buildings, now they're hacking our Facebooks! At this rate they'll be spamming our Twitter accounts by December!!!
If you look up the picture of the plane you will be incredibly underwhelmed. This article makes it sound like the airplane is covered in a mural of hardcore pornography. It's a big picture of a swimsuit model.
If "woman in a swimsuit" fits your definition of pornography, then you have much greater problems to worry about, such as the rowdy teenager from out of town who is teaching your young people to dance, because you are apparently the pastor from "Footloose". :)

Ask yourselves this, my friends. If the situation was reversed, if a majority of Californians were homosexuals, and Californian Christians were a small vocal minority instead of a titanic voting bloc, how would you react to a Proposition passing that, say, outlaws public gatherings of Christians, or outlaws the Bible? What if this proposition passed democratically? Would your attempts to overturn it be unamerican and unconstitutional?
You won a major victory in November by stripping civil rights away from a minority group through a simple majority vote. Doesn't it scare you that this is possible, or does it not bother you because you are so used to being part of a massive entrenched demographic that can simply shout down weaker opponents?

Williamprice, I understand your anger but you have to understand that evolution doesn't say that last part at all. It says we have a common ancestor with chimpanzees. Saying we come from chimpanzees would be like saying you're descended from your cousin.
I'm not weighing in on the debate, I just wanted to clear that up because it's a misconception I hear a lot in my own church and community.

Much larger amounts of your tax money go to much worse things. If you're going to start playing the "not with my tax dollars" game you might want to do some reading on how much money you have personally contributed to the cause of depopulating Iraq. I'm much angrier about the enormous chunk of my paycheck that gets siphoned off into lucrative defense contracts than I am about the fraction of a cent that might contribute to a teenage rape victim learning about her options.
Believer, I don't agree with you on your sentiment but I have to give you credit for a brilliant comeback! :)

Exactly, artm! We are living in incredibly dark times and some Christians have chosen the least egregious offense possible to actively respond to. It's like complaining about a stain on your carpet while your house is on fire!

Oh PLEASE LORD not again! Not another 'War on Christmas' phase! The world economy is collapsing! All of Bush's pro-life actions are about to be overturned! Wars are raging all over the planet! For the love of God and Christendom! WE'RE KIND OF BUSY RIGHT NOW!
What?

I pray that this doesn't turn into another big political Terri Schiavo fiasco with conservative and liberal vultures descending on the family in their grief.

It's hard for me to take Wicca seriously as a religion when it seems to be more of an asinine phase that teenagers go through during their "I'm not religious, I'm SPIRITUAL" phase. Frankly I don't know how to talk to someone who thinks they can actually cast spells or put hexes on people. It's like talking to a child pretending to be a fireman or dinosaur.

Yeah, the phrase "a Catholic and a Christian" is pretty inappropriate. I hope that was a mistake.

mikeymike885, I don't understand your tithing analogy. Putting money in the collection plate is one thing, but it would be a very different thing if you knew there was a good chance the pastor was putting some of it in his own bank account while giving the rest to a team of armed guards who run around beating up Christians and breaking up home churches.
See? It's so unapplicable that I couldn't even put a workable analogy together! :P

There is a documentary named "Children of the Secret State" which you can view for free on Google Video. I wish Franklin Graham had watched this before going on this "historic" trip.
The North Korean government loves to give heavily-guided tours to foreigners. They take them through all of the richest and most stable parts of the country (even though not even the worst cities in America are as decrepit and impoverished as Pyongyang) to convince them that North Korea is freer and more stable than it really is. "Children of the Secret State" is notable for actually contacting North Korean dissidents who supply the film crew with footage of what life is like in the regions they won't allow foreigners into. It's heartbreaking.
North Korea is one of the most impoverished nations in the world, yet they have the fifth largest military in the world. This is no coincidence. To keep such a large force going, they have to take every bit of food and supplies that naive foreigners send to them.
I believe Graham had only the best of intentions, but I can't help but feel that history is going to remember him the same way it will remember Sean Penn when he took a trip to Iraq in 2002 and declared it "nice enough".
On our own we are little more than bits of stone and glass. Together we are the Body of Christ. Holy Bible: Mosaic is an invitation to experience Christ in His Word and in the responses of his people. Each week, as you reflect on guided Scripture readings aligned with the church seasons, you will receive a wealth of insight from historical and contemporary writings.
