You must be bloody joking! This is not good! This is just another liberal political correctness move by the Church of England to water down Christianity and its unque salvivic role.
We as Christians should not celebrate other faith festivals. The country of my parents has been runnover by Muslims. The Church of England is irrelevant. In GB alone there are 48 million Anglicans and of those only 900,000 attend services on Sundays whilst the Catholic Church has 4 million members in GB and 1.6 million go to Mass on Sundays. Catholicism is growing in the UK and thank God because it is the only large Christian group who won't cozy up with the Muslims and Hindus.
Anglicans are all about Koombaya religion where all faiths are equal. Catholicism stands firm that Jesus Christ is the only way. You either accept Jesus or you go to HeII.
Anglicans are all about Relativism. Your truth is just as good as my truth garbage.
ALL LIBERAL CATHOLICS PLEASE LEAVE THE CHURCH or repent and reconcile yourselves with orthodoxy and orthopraxy. All Traditional Anglicans WELCOME HOME to the Catholic Church!!!!

As a Former Reformed Pastor, I could not get by the fact that Faith alone and scripture alone are not explicitly taught in scripture.
Too many places in scripture does Paul say Keep the Traditions as I have handed on to you by oral or by letter and shun those not acting according to TRADITION. If this Tradition was man-made it would not bear such weight, especially coming from Paul so this Tradition is Sacred because it comes from GOD.
So, Tradition has authority because it came from God.
We also clearly see that scripture is authoritative too, since it is God's Word.
We also see that the Apostles had God's authority to bind and loose, forgive sins, legislate, discipline and set doctrines.
The three legged stool; Scripture, Tradition and Teaching authority of the Church.
Being a former Protestant, I realized that on scripture alone this stool did not stand. It needs the other two authoritative and God ordained authorities to support the witness of scripture.
Afterall, if it wasn't for the Oral Tradition and the consistent teaching authority of the Catholic Church, we would not have the New Testament as it is today.

Online,
Logic would suppose that a doctrine titled "scripture alone" would be explicit instead of implicit like you suggest. That no place in scripture does it teach that scripture is the ONLY authority in Christian formation and life. Not one place in scripture explicitly says that scripture alone is our only standard of faith and morals.
Moreover, the only place where the bible uses the words faith alone is in James where he says we are justified by works and NOT BY FAITH ALONE.

Believer,
I realize you are a pastor, but I also realize you really have never had any formal exegetical training either. No protestant, who has a clue about scripture, would ever site 2 Timothy 3:16 as a proof for Sola Scriptura since if it did prove sola scriptura, then ONLY THE OLD TESTAMENT would be the scriptures in discussion.
2Timothy 3:15-16 discusses scriptures that Timothy has known from his childhood, these holy scriptures would be the Old Testament not the New.
Context, Context, Context believer. You are regularly contextually challenged.
The Word of God, either by oral or letter is the standard by which all things should be measured against in faith and morals. In addition, the hierarchy set in place by Jesus Christ himself also had teaching authority from God.
So, we see three forms of Authority; the Word of God-Oral Tradition, the Word of God-Written Tradition(scriptures) and the Word of God as understood by the Apostles and the bishops in charge of the Church.

Wow! That is a lot of money.
It is ashame that they didn't build a great building in the first place that will stand the test of time.
Take for example the Catholic and Orthodox Churches in Europe and the Middle East. They have been around for 500-1000 years most of them and some of them are even 1600 years old and are still in use today. Now that is fine craftsmanship, forward thinking and from a cost comparison way CHEAPER.

Mathew,
As a former Reformed Pastor and Theologian, who became Catholic, I can tell you that Calvinism is not pure doctrine. I and about 200+ Reformed Pastors from various denominations have come into the Catholic Church in the last 10 years. One of the most famous is www.scotthahn.com, who like me went to Gordon Conwell. He graduated top of his class and during his education he discovered that sola scriptura and sola fidei are clearly not taught in scripture. Like Scott, I had to discover by reading the early church fathers what was truly the Word of God and it wasn't my protestant bible. It was the Catholic Bible in its original form.
I will only follow the teachings of the Apostles through the Word of God, whether it be by oral or by letter.
The Catholic faith, handed down by the Apostles, is the only pure and infallible doctrine. Calvinists share in this purity of faith in so much as they accept Catholic doctrine. Tradition can never usurp the Word of God, but Tradition is on par with the Word of God if that Tradition came from the same source who is God. Not everything Jesus said was written, and the rest of his teachings were passed down in Sacred Tradition; from Apostle to Bishop and so on.
The doctrine of once saved always saved is false and God wills some people for heII is also false. If God is love, then God cannot do either of these since Love requires free will and in His love there is mercy for all who call upon HIm.
Online,
You should know full well, that inspiration of scripture is not based solely on whether it was quoted in the New Testament or otherwise the books of Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon should not be included. While these books are a part ot the Hebrew collection, they are not quoted. So, basic logic would say quoting is not the only reliable test of inspiration and thus is a fallacy.
Sirach and 2 Maccabees – some Protestants argue these books are not inspired because the writers express uncertainty about their abilities. But sacred writers are often humble about their divinely inspired writings. See, for example, 1 Cor. 7:40 – Paul says he “thinks” that he has the Spirit of God.
Protestants attempt to defend their rejection of the deuterocanonicals on the ground that the early Jews rejected them. However, the Jewish councils that rejected them (e.g., School of Javneh (also called “Jamnia” in 90 - 100 A.D.) were the same councils that rejected the entire New Testatment canon. Thus, Protestants who reject the Catholic Bible are following a Jewish council that rejected Christ and the Revelation of the New Testament.
But the Septuagint is quoted quite heavilly. Of the approximately 300 Old Testament quotes in the New Testament, approximately 2/3 of them came from the Septuagint (the Greek translation of the Old Testament) which included the deuterocanonical books that Protestants later removed.
2 Tim. 3:16 - the inspired Scripture that Paul was referring to included the deuterocanonical texts that the Protestants removed. The books Baruch, Tobit, Maccabees, Judith, Sirach, Wisdom and parts of Daniel and Esther were all included in the Septuagint that Jesus and the apostles used.

This law logically makes crimes against homosexuals more important than crimes against heterosexuals.
If we all want equality, then this law shows bias towards one group over another.
This is just a logical statement, not a religious situation.
What is a religious situation is when this hate crime will be soon to attack the free speech of pastors, priests and everyday Christians who because of the Word of God find homosexuality disordered and against God's natural order and law. Soon preaching against this immoral behavior will be against the law since any law created always has a slippery slope downside.
I'm only glad I have the freedom right now to say, "Homosexual activity is a crime against God, it is immoral, disordered and is contrary to human sexual relations and breaks down the moral order of soceity."

Rome does have God's authority to bind and loose. Maybe you missed that scripture.
The Keys of the KINGDOM OF HEAVEN as it states in Mt 16:18 was given to Peter and his successors. These sound like pretty important Keys don't they and Yes the Catholic Church being lead by the Holy Spirit who is the third person of the Trinity guided us to change our Sabbath to Sunday.

With this amazing event of millions of Anglicans preparing to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church, the Orthodox are also moving forward.
This morning's news in www.catholicnewsagency.com
describes a Bulgarian Orthodox Prelate who said,"Bulgarian Orthodox Leader Affirms Desire for Unity with the Catholic Church"
10/23/2009
Zenit News Agency (www.zenit.org)
He affirmed that he will 'not spare any efforts' to work for the quick restoration of 'communion between Catholics and Orthodox'.
May God be give ALL THE GLORY for this amazing manifestion of the Holy Spirit call for unity under the Bishop of Rome.

I am so happy that these orthodox Anglicans are coming home. We welcome you!
Homoman,
While you can get a survey to say anything, what I find reasuring is that the Word of God is solidly against homosexual activity and our Pope and ALL THE BISHOPS who lead our Catholic Church are against it because of the testimony of Sacred Scripture and testimony of Sacred Tradition. The teaching authority of our church which takes both sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture into account as one revealed message of God, says homosexual behavior is always wrong.
While the Liberal churches fall apart and whither on the vine cutting themselves off from the WORD OF GOD, they do a massive disservice to the gay population by accepting their sin when this sin will lead you to eternal sepparation from God. Repent from your sins, believe on the Lord and be saved.
You cannot be saved in your gravely sinful lifestyle.

I also think, like Chas, these ecumenical things are a waste of time.
The Lutherans and Methodists are dying out anyways, so why create a common understanding with a group who won't be around in 100 years.
Let us be less ecumenical, and more evangelical in spreading the faith. If we Catholics would get off our rear ends and evangelize like we did in our first 1000 years, the whole world would be Catholic.
I say, stop talking with all these other Christian sects for ecumenism. Let us just get out and evangelize our own people and others so that all the other denominations will just die out and the conservative ones will all see the Truth of the Catholic Church and come home.
If we Catholics truly got on fire world wide with evangelization efforts, there would truly be no more denomations left in 100 years. It would just be us again, as it should be since only Jesus gave the Catholic Church His Authority.

Mike,
At the Last Supper, Jesus says, "This is my body...This is my blood." He doesn't say it is a symbol nor does He use symbolic language.
You can trivialize it all you want, but it is Jesus who said the bread and wine are His body and blood and He was not being symbolic. There is no symbolism before or after that scripture and John 6 predicts the Eucharist which is the Last Supper.
All Christians for 1600 years including Lutherans, Methodists, Anglicans believe in the True Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. It is only the latter Christians who were not of the Reformation that watered the Eucharist down to a mere symbol.
Symbols don't change people, but the real presence does. This is why Catholics by the millions go to Mass during the week as well as Sunday because this is truly the most amazing gift to receive. To truly have Jesus present in me by partaking of the bread and wine is a miracle and this is why that miracle is offered every single day.
For us Catholics, especially those of us who were former Evangelical Pastors like myself, the true presence of Christ in the Eucharist is enough of a reason to become Catholic.
You cannot get the true presence of Christ, body blood soul and divinity in any other place. Protestants are truly missing out.

Since the Truth is Christ and Jesus is God, then God is Truth.
The Holy Spirit is the paraclete of the Truth. The Holy Spirit made man infallible when they wrote the scriptures. The Holy Spirit made Peter infallible when he wrote and when he was guided to bring the gentiles into the Church. The Holy Spirit guided Peter infallibly.
Only Jesus gave specific men to be lead into all Truth, and you were not one of them. Neither were your forefathers and neither were your sect of Christianity.
The Catholic Church received this gift of Truth from the Apostles as they founded and created our church.
You basically picked up the bible like many a fundamentalist, and without seeking further seminary education or any biblical exegesis understanding and with no understanding of Hebrew or Greek decided to sit down and read the American version of it and you felt that you were automatically gifted in perfectly understanding scripture.
This type of hubris, generally follows someone who has faith but not reason or understanding and perfectly fits the scripture;"No Prophesy of scripture is open to private interpretation".
Interpretation of scripture was always done collegially among the Bishops who were the immediate successors to the Apostles. The Apostles gave the example at the first council of Jerusalem that all decisions of faith and morals are made by the hierarchy set by God. The Catholic Church continued the Council process which is still in pracice today.
Protestant took the council idea and broke it, even thought it was biblical to have a council, and only one person the Pope could affirm or reject what was presented as He has the Keys given by Christ. While Christian ought to read the scriptures and try and understand them, the individiual Christian is not gifted to make 100% judgements on scripture outside of the collegial council as set by the Apostles, which are the Bishops of the Universal Church.

Prophet,
It is one thing to challenge one another like Online and believer do and Johavanissi. And we can even get pretty heated too. While I adamantly disagree with many of their conclusions, most of the time they are cordial and charitable. Not all the time, like me too not being perfect, but most of the time which shows an effort to show Christ like qualities and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. I accept them as sepparated brothers and sisters in Christ.
But nothing comes from your mouth that is pleasing to the Lord. I pray for your soul since you lack charity. Someone who has no charity, doesn't truly have Jesus as their Lord.
Call me names all you want. It doesn't bother me, but this hatred creates an evil heart and your actions flow from there and so does your witness.
On our own we are little more than bits of stone and glass. Together we are the Body of Christ. Holy Bible: Mosaic is an invitation to experience Christ in His Word and in the responses of his people. Each week, as you reflect on guided Scripture readings aligned with the church seasons, you will receive a wealth of insight from historical and contemporary writings.
