I think that Robert Bly often speaks the truth. I'm not sure about the conference on the Great Mother and the New Father, since I have not looked into that. Still, I read much truth in the article you will find through this link:

It certainly is true that - for a leader of our country - I prefer a Christian like Obama to some of the Christians on this Web site.

Online, thanks for that. Really, the only time I get agitated somewhat is when it seems so many people are ganging up on Mike, the gay guy who has such thoughtful and sincere posts. If the only criteria here were "fruits of the spirit," I would have to say that I sense more of those coming from Mike than I do from so many others. If the only criteria here were "fruits of the spirit," I would have to say that I sense more of those coming from Mike than I do from so many others. Even those who eschew vitriol still seem so condescending to Mike.

As we all know, "tone" is something that is lacking on a bulletin board such as this. "Tone" makes all the difference, when we are agreeing and ESPECIALLY when we are disagreeing with like-minded fellows or with real philosophical adversaries. If I mean something to be snide, I hope it is clear. (After all, a Christian of my variety has taken no pledge to be "sweet" and self-effacing all the time. Or "saccharine," may be a better word....)

Frankly, I believe that the church is changing radically these days. If we were put fifty years hence (in the Christian church of 2059), we maight feel as out of place as even you might feel, were you teleported back to colonial and Puritan New England. I think that the church will change - but it will not be apostate. I believe that the message from Jesus - to love God and love your neighbor - will always break through to those who want to hear it.

But to give you an idea of how differently you and I feel about one topic: Since I first started following the conversations between Mike and others (several months now), I have had three visits from a Jehovah's Witness, once with his nice wife and young daughter. We have touched on many subjects. I think this man realizes that there is really no chance that I will ever attend his church. He stills wants to talk, though, and he is such a kind and obviously dedicated person. As he was preparing to leave last week, I said to him, "You know, if the Jehovah's Witness church is still a going concern 25 years from now, as I fully expect it to be, I think you will have gay clergy." He replied, "I think you are wrong about that, but I'm willing to talk about it next time."

This Witness is vehemently opposed to any "progress" on the part of homosexuals in the U. S. Still, he made that parting remark. I have never heard (read) anyone on CP who seemed to be even as open as this man.less

Think this through. If Christianity says that it is the ONLY way to eternal life and all other religions are wrong....
Islam says it is the ONLY way to eternal life and all other religions are wrong....
Hinduism says that Christianity AND Islam are wrong...

HOW CAN THEY ALL BE RIGHT?

And how can the detractors be wrong, if they are debating from a religious point that-according to you- is right?"

They can all be right for the believers of each book, Blacksho. Christianity is right (and the only way) for you. Islam is the only way for a Muslim. Hunduism is right for another man. Christianity happens to be right for me, as well. But I cannot force my beliefs on my neighbor. Unfortunately for your in-group, modern people have met and come to know wonderful, loving and helpful people of other religious persuasions. Encounters such as this shake the bigotry out of sensible people's brains.

To ask "How can they all be right?" only displays the finite minds that people - including you and me - have.less

"For many years the devil has been plotting to have control of how the church operates.<----- Yeah that is called Tax exempt incorporated Churches. They are the ones ran by the world system." Sawnay did not have to invoke the devil, and this post is couched in his usual sophomoric screed, but he is absolutely correct on the real point he makes.

Sometimes I get the idea that some "Christians" who post on CP would like to have a Bible-based version of Sharia laws spread across the United States.

Why not pray to lose some of your prejudices and enjoy your time on earth? What's wrong with that plan: too pleasant? What do you Puritans want, really? I know Jesus recommended a child-like faith, but - in some departments - it's really OK for you to grow up. It would be good for you - and for the rest of us, really. For everybody....

But I think many of you just prefer to be hived off in some relatively small (144,000?) "elect" group. Weird....less
