Wilderness1, when your mother is ill and dying, do you sign Prayer Petitions in your church, or ask others to pray for her? If so, why can't a Catholic do that to those in Heaven?
Protestants like you need to be open-minded and realize that bashing other's faith is not Christian-like. LOL, it's not even Christian at all. :-)
Wilderness, you belong is this group:

"I think Jesus is quiet pleased with those who do not compromise His Word. There is many things more important than unity, Unity with HIM and HIS WORD is what is wants, unity outside of HIM is no unity at all, especially unity with the world."

Christ founded one church. I think that by unifying, we follow His Word of staying in that ONE church.
Also, if you think Christ is pleased that we split all the time, then I worry for you.

To add on to Daniel Paul:
"says the use of the word by non-Muslims could confuse Muslims."
I doubt that Muslim people subscribe to Catholic magazines. LOLOLOL! I mean, really.

Hey PhatDajuan, I researched how you said that Catholic Charities in Boston was funded by the state and found of no such thing supporting or opposing your statement. Any links?
I did find, however, that the Catholic Charities of Boston was founded in 1903 so I highly doubt that the State funded it back then due to different times and less government spending. In my opinion, if the agency has been running for more than 100 years its own way, why change?
Also, as of the matter in the UK...are you guys aware that Catholic schools in the UK are not allowed to preach Catholic doctrine? LOL.
I think that, in this case, the Catholic Church should have the right of way. If gay couples have a problem, I HIGHLY doubt that they won't be able to find a state or other denomination adoption agency.
Last but not least, there were 11 Catholic adoption agencies in the UK. Here is a link of all the adoption agencies of the UK. Note that the UK is a small country, unlike the US. It's easy for a Brit to go to an alternative agency.

PS - that link I gave you. I wanted to count them all, but I stopped at 50. There are well over 100 adoption agencies in the country. I highly doubt that it will be hard for a gay couple to leave a Catholic agency and go to another one.
The Master Has Spoken. ;)
Mike, in my high school history book, it divided Christianity into three branches: Roman Catholicism, Orthodoxy, and Protestantism. I always viewed it that way because, frankly, that's the way it is. A Protestant is a Christian who fits ANY of three definitions of Protestant:
1.) Apart of a Christian denomination that protested the Church during the Reformation
2.) A Christian in a denomination that formed after the Church
3.) A Christian in a denomination who rejects the Pope as Christ's Representative on Earth.
Even Merriam-Webster back my viewpoint. The part after "Broadly" sums it up. Even though it's broad, it's still the definition. Even if you get rid of that part, I think you fall in definition 1.b.

Why do Christians constantly dis-unify. I mean, really, does anyone here think Jesus is happy because we bicker? :-( Lord have mercy.

Hey all! I just registed. You can call my Mystic. I'm Catholic and I serve a the Sacristan of my parish, an altar server, usher, and Eucharistic Minister. :-)
I noticed a discussion so I thought I might jump in.
Some things I don't like about the Church:
- the sex scandals, although I feel that they are highly exaggerated
- lack of education and motivation (Protestants spend the whole day at their church, whereas, Catholics go to Mass and go home. Also, CCD is terrible in the area I live)
- Don't do anything about Cultural Catholics
What I dislike about Protestant churches:
- I often meet Prods who use the Bible more like a rifle than a preaching tool. By shooting a verse at me only tells you your personal interpretation, then, I shoot a verse back that defends my point. It goes no where.
- I've met Protestants who think that clerical celibacy causes sex scandals. However, I think the sex scandals are an all-around Christian problem, not just a Catholic one.
- Many Prod clergy teach wrongly of the Church, especially when they say that the Church teaches to "worship" Mary.
There's a bit about me. I try to be equal and open-minded. Meaning, I never like to say, "I dislike this about the Methodist Church" unless I say something I dislike about my own church. :D
So, how is everyone? :D
On our own we are little more than bits of stone and glass. Together we are the Body of Christ. Holy Bible: Mosaic is an invitation to experience Christ in His Word and in the responses of his people. Each week, as you reflect on guided Scripture readings aligned with the church seasons, you will receive a wealth of insight from historical and contemporary writings.
