Canons of Dort tell us that the gospel, “ought to be declared and published to all nations, and to all persons promiscuously and without distinction,
to whom God out of His good pleasure sends the gospel.”
Pretty clear why Calvinists would be evangelistic.

I would never knowingly marry unbelievers because even though it is legal, they are not consecrating their union before God, they are using the cloak of religion to either enjoy the church atmosphere and/or to make it more palatable in a traditional sense. This doesn't mean that all pastors who do this are sinning, just that my conscience doesn't allow for it.
Most importantly in the marriage debate is whether one will marry a believer to an unbeliever knowingly.

Johnson,
Read Stockman's book multiple times, loved the book BTW. If one analyzes Stockman's book, one would find the biggest issue was the inability to pull back from promises made after discovering the Laffer Curve wouldn't work as advertised because of the drop in the inflation rate (and not because the primary truth of the curve was incorrect). The curve was true but when inflation was curbed, the dollars in revenue dropped from the expected increase (but still a large increase in total revenues) and the curve also affected the actual budget outlays (esp. defense which Cap and David fought over ferociously) as well.
One can make up a straw man and argue your point but that wasn't Reaganomics and it assumes that the President's budgets and priorities were followed. Since Presidents can't make a budget nor amend a budget but only ask for changes and then decide to sign it or not, Congress holds the key. Since revenues almost doubled during the Reagan years and the percentage of taxes coming from the under $200K folks dropped (and over $200K group increased in actual dollars and percentage of the Federal take), attempting to say that lower tax rates made revenues drop is just completely incorrect. Congress got almost double the money by 1989 (last "Reagan" budget) but Congress TRIPLED spending (roughly), Congress is to blame (just like during all other administrations including the present administration).
In the end, making your argument against a man who isn't and wasn't who you describe may be politically expedient but it i historically and factually incorrect.
Reagan certainly wasn't the second coming or a political savior but I never claimed he was :-)

GF,
Your assumptions on my political viewpoint is way off base and shows your bias. I am usually confused with being a conservative by both the right and the left (not to mention the rest of the political world). You should ask more questions before making silly and completely ignorant statements about others' politics.
Since I utilize over 75 different bibles from Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic and English (and sometimes German) your attempt at portraying me as some type of biblical liberal is both disgusting and adolescent.
Since you are supporting propaganda that comes from your political position, you are not a trustworthy source. The point is to be true to the truth and the biblical text, not to some politics.
Since this coming perversion of the Scriptures come from and is being endorsed by those who claim to be protecting the Scriptures from being tainted, it is the ultimate in hypocrisy and God will judge just as harshly those who pervert the Scriptures for political conservatism as He will for those who do for liberalism.
Beware, he doesn't take kindly to His name being blasphemed for any reason - even political games such as the one being played by this joker.

HM,
Your comment on my post shows the lack of thought. Something i only truly reprehensible if there is a higher authority (God). Without that authority saying something is evil or good, "reprehensible" is just a made up idea that is defined by each individual person. Your protest to logic is sadly normal sir. The inability to use basic logic is quite sad though.
DP,
Good to see you are having some fun demolishing the author's claims. A cursory knowledge of biblical Hebrew and Koine Greek demonstrates his claims to be ignorant at best. Good work servant!

Sounds like this woman did as she was commanded by the King. Hopefully this young guy knows the Lord and allows Him to use the consequences to mold him into the image of His Son.

Without God, the idea of good and bad is nothing but pure idiocy. Without an overarching authority and the terms having actual meaning outside of each person's own mind, the terms mean diddly.
If there is no God (and there is) then good or bad is nothing but a meaningless, shifting social construct that has nothing to offer and I would reject that because it would matter not if I were "good" or "bad" by other's beliefs.
If there is no good, then there is no, "good for goodness sake." The idea is about as deep as Jim Morrison's or Britney Spears' lyrics.

Knight,
Unfortunately, hypers may not accurately represent reformed theology but they do represent it quite boisterously. There are those on the other end of the spectrum who do not accurately represent the Arminian theology either but they are quite boisterous and public as well.
This is what happens when we take very complicated and nuanced doctrinal issues and documents and make them into 10 words instead of teaching the whole thing.
In today's "debates", Calvin wouldn't be calvinist enough and Jacobus wouldn't be enough of a free-willer.

Your comments would be funny if they were accurate or even somewhat so. Your knowledge of economics and policy leaves much to be desired. Anyone that says Reaganomics was cutting taxes and raising spending either is ignorant on the subject or is a partisan.

RHI,
Your comment seems quite on target. Although Yaconelli and YS has had some theological issues since the beginning, they knew the youth culture enough to be able to network and help youth workers and they were a big part of making sure that people don't think that youth ministry is some purgatory or some stepping stone to "real" ministry.

Although I am NOT (or ever will be) a W Bush supporter, reality is that W didn't adopt Reaganomics. Nice little dig you threw out but it is pure falsehood.

Your question is a good one. Paul specifically addresses the intra-church lawsuit issue in 1 Corinthians 6 and God says we are not to do this.

Although I am not a Calvinist, those who profess to follow the teachings of Calvin would be hard pressed to ignore this piece of history:
Canons of Dort:
tell us that the gospel “ought to be declared and published to all nations, and to all persons promiscuously and without distinction, to whom God out of His good pleasure sends the gospel.”
Hyper - Hyper - Calvinists may disagree (and the numbers are small as far as anyone can count) but those who hold to the theological tradition of the Reformed faith must accept this I think.

Can't see a biblical reason for your elder not attending the beerfest. he is called not to be drunk and to be a friend to sinners as our King is. Many use the, "appearance of evil" passage to deny the need to follow Jesus' example. Unless 1 Thessalonians 5.22 supersedes Jesus' words and conduct, the meaning cannot be what it is usually purported to mean by well-meaning brethren.

Thank you Mr. Moore. As a parents of two gifts from God, we try to allow them the proper amount of horror (age appropriate of course) because as the world is a dark place and Jesus isn't Mister Rogers. Our kids do need to know that evil exists within the realm of God's creation and that we need to battle that evil (with the power of the Spirit). Kids need to see the Light in the darkness because without the darkness, the Light isn't seen in this creation.
The ethical guidelines of the Bible are for Xians to know and follow. Non-believers are not going to get a suspended sentence in Hell because they gave the poor a cup of cold water. Paul talks much about moralism in the first chapters of Romans.

Good post Norski. The issue isn't the so-called, "hate-radio" argument is a lie and a silly one at that. The issue is those who come to this country are welcomed but only if they do so legally which takes time yes but the system served us well for many decades. The problem really started when we stopped enforcing the laws.

If there was true repentance this man wouldn't be suing to get back to the head of the organization. It is all about personal ambition because God doesn't OK Xians suing each other.

On our own we are little more than bits of stone and glass. Together we are the Body of Christ. Holy Bible: Mosaic is an invitation to experience Christ in His Word and in the responses of his people. Each week, as you reflect on guided Scripture readings aligned with the church seasons, you will receive a wealth of insight from historical and contemporary writings.
