Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (JN 8:32)
I would like to encourage the Samuel Church in Seoul. I have been praying for the group since I read of their kidnapping. Since their only reason for going to Afghanistan was to give a Christlike testimony to those people, God has given them a chance to show Christ to a
group who no doubt has never heard of Him or seen His disciples. This is a singular event
and although naturally the families want their loved ones back and are in agony over this,
God can glorify Himself by their lives and even by their deaths, if it comes to that. Surely,
everyone realized that where they were going was extremely dangerous and that kidnapping, attacks or even death were definite possibilities. In view of what has happened, I have been
praying that they will give a good testimony, whether in life, in sickness or in death, to the
power and mercy of Christ in each of them, to these people who depend on the power of bullets and hate;
that they will show forgiveness to their captors who are unmerciful, that they will show forth the Life of Christ in themselves to their captors and executioners. May God be glorified in all of this, as He is in our brother and sisters in Turkey in the wake of the martyrdoms of the 3 workers who were murdered there recently and in other parts of the world where Christ is reviled as yet. How will they know and believe if no one tells them? My heartfelt Christian love and sympathy to my brothers and sisters in South Korea as they wait out the end of this great test of faith.
