  • Falling Fertility Makes for Happy Economists?

A very good article, and it contrasts strongly with the prevailing environmental rubric that we are approaching the earth's capacity to support human population. I think what is needed now is a piece showing that the earth can comfortably sustain greater numbers. But this will be of necessity tied in with debunking the global warming hysteria, etc. We have our task cut out for ourselves.

Jim - I've been upping my prayer time lately, and the breakthroughs have been amazing, but unsurprisingly it has come with opposition, which at the moment is trying to discourage me. Thanks for this very well-timed reminder that time spent in prayer is not wasted, but will be rewarded!

It's truly amazing, on several counts. First, this confirms that Obama was indeed lying before the joint session of Congress and the American ppl when he baldly asserted that abortion is not covered in "our" health care bill. Second, you have to wonder how married the Left is to abortion when such a divisive procedure is mandated in a radical, and controversial, bill. One would think they would be making concessions in order to get the bill passed, and not doing so is an indicator of either how strongly they believe in universal free abortions or their arrogance, or both.

And if either their hubris or their ungodliness causes this very bad bill to fail, that's a good thing.

It is a very well-done article. What the religious Left is serving up is, as is typical of them, simply moral relativism with a Christian cover. A conscience that is not Biblically informed is simply uninformed, and most likely unformed.

  • Has Obama Ushered in a New Era for LGBT Rights?

Mike, it's delusional to think that once they have the power, the politically correct crowd will stop short of using the anti-discrimination laws to force acceptance of practicing homosexuals in the pulpit. It will start by withholding of the IRS deduction. It will progress to criminality.

No one ever said one must go through a traumatic experience in order to receive Christ. One does have to go through a new birth experience, however, and that often happens in difficult circumstances.

Jesus affirms marriage between a man and a woman. The NT mentions homosexuality, in a very negative light, but doesn't dwell on it because it was understood at the time to be aberrant.

Our president actually apologized, at the Olympics presentation, to a rep of Pakistan for America not being open and "accessible" enough; promised that we were going to make progress in that direction. Pakistan - which persecutes Christians daily, burns them at will, and then gives the perps bail.

He is an apologist and an appeaser of the worst kind, and will destroy this nation if given the chance.

  • Has Obama Ushered in a New Era for LGBT Rights?

    paul1149 »
    Wed Oct 14, 2009 11:36 am Agree: 1   Disagree: 10

I want homosexuals to have human rights as well, but make no mistake, the political movement for LGBT will not stop until it, by force of government, forces you to rent to practicing homosexuals, to hire practicing homosexuals as your pastor, etc. It basically amounts to a redefinition of morality, enforced by the barrel of a gun - ironic, because that's exactly what the original gay rights people complained of.

And it all comes by virtue of the growing wave of government intrusion into the most intimate areas of our lives, even at the expense of values in which this nation was born and bred.

This signals nothing less than the end of anything close to what our republic has stood for, and the beginnings of the global beast that will persecute the saints.

What a load of politically correct junk science. These dupes have fallen right into the statist totalitarian dream. Which makes sense, since many of the RC charities function as an adjunct of the state. Sad to see the church so divided, but this was predicted.

  • Abortion and the American Conscience

An excellent reminder of abortion's dirty eugenic roots. This issue has been pushed to the rear. At one time it was the talk of the nation, but then came the violence, and the media found it so easy to paint all anti-abortion activists as violent anarchists. A huge wedge was driven between the prolifers and mainstream opinion, FOCA and RICO were implemented, and we've lost a generation worth of time, and counting. We've got a lot of catching up to do, and it's getting darker.

  • House Approves Hate Crimes Provision in Defense Bill

    paul1149 »
    Sat Oct 10, 2009 11:55 am Agree: 3   Disagree: 4

You have to evaluate provisions like this not merely according to the words on the page, but in light of how the courts interpret those words according to the prevailing ethos. Secular humanism has become the de facto national religion driving our institutions and legal system, and these special protections WILL be used in an unbalanced way to expand privileges to favored groups (Read: those which would deconstruct our foundational morality) and to deny the God-given and Constitutionally enshrined rights of traditional groups (Read: Christians).

Do not be misled. Exercise discernment. The enemy still is subtle.

  • Report: 18 Percent of White Evangelicals Support Health Care Bills

We're all for healthcare for all, but the government is not the way to achieve it. We need to be going in exactly the opposite direction:

Tort reform. Ridiculous judgments raise malpractice insurance rates and force doctors to practice expensive defensive medicine. And many a doctor has simply folded up shop - witness the dearth of obstetricians due to the kind of junk lawsuits that John Edwards specialized in.

Stop the employer tax exemption for health insurance. This is a subsidy that skewed the market towards insurance handling all medical services. Insurance is for catastrophic events, not oral hygene. It's inherent inefficiencies are a major cause of medical expense.

Allow cross-state insurance competition. Again, get the government OUT of this game and let the wisdom of the FREE MARKET rule.

FDA reform. The corrupt and moribund FDA is impeding lifesaving and costsaving medical progress. The internal deliberations of this most-powerful federal agency need to be made public.

Develop alternate forms of insurance, such as medical savings accounts.

Stock market reform. Medical companies - and all companies - need to be protected from the immoral practice of short-selling, which drives 85% of all market corruption and discourages investment in cutting-edge medical research.

Basically, the government should be creating a fair and level playing field, not taking over the game. Obama is trying to take this nation in EXACTLY the opposite direction from where true reform would take it, from where we need to go. Federal healthcare will immediately dominate the entire industry, "public option" or not, and there is no turning back once implemented.

And that's only the beginning. Next up is Cap & Trade, aka the sale of carbon indulgences. This bill will function as a tax on the economy, as if it could bear it, and in fact will be the largest tax increase in history. Of course, the statists, who delight in centralizing their power over every aspect of our lives, won't call it a tax.

I'm proud of the evangelical stand on Obama's ill-considered scheme. Once in a while we get things right. We need to defeat this dangerous bill and throw its proponents out of office, pronto. We are very close to irreversible national disaster.

There were many tithes, and they added up to some 22%. But the poor were allowed less expensive offerings, and some of the offerings were ceremonial only, later to be consumed by the offerer himself.

I'm suspicious of the wording of any poll that has Americans supporting legal abortion. For decades prolifers have significantly out-polled prochoicers in this nation, an effect seen even more strongly amid the coming generation.
