  • United Methodist Members Dying Faster than Americans

This church's corporate leadership more strongly resembles a liberal PAC than it's Christ-centered, mission and outreach focused founder. The Re Think Church ad I've seen did not mention God, worship of God, or Christ as Savior, as if the church is slightly ashamed of THAT connection. Church members are often oblivious, or disconnected, but those who question hierarchical choices are dismissed out of hand. The branch isn't connected to the vine and so it's being pruned.

I agree that President Obama would do well to avoid the hypocrisy of engaging in public prayer. Christ was showing the disciples the difference between true prayer and false prayer. The fruits of the first few months of this administration speak for themselves. Since it is unlikely that there will be a public confession of sin, it will fall on the rest of us to pray, earnestly, and honestly, for our Nation.

Ignore the faith baiters. They are not interested in a reasonable discussion.

Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your mind, with all your soul and strength.

If you do this, then you will not ask others to compromise their faith to accept and "bless" your sin. Nor will you seek to force acceptance of a sinful lifestyle on the Body of Christ. That the sin of a few eager to have their lifestyle blessed in spite of the Word, to the detriment of the Christ's bride The Church, is the selfish and disunifying act. After all, Homosexuality is hardly new, this was addressed in the early church.

Sin is sin. We all sin. I don't ask the church to bless my sin. Nor do I ask the church to set aside creed and teaching so that I can continue to sin openly. I seek with Christ's help, to overcome my sin, and rest in the hope that through His sacrifice, my sins will be forgiven by our Holy and Loving God.

Because we live in a republic, rather than a monarchy, President Obama's election does not automatically mean that his stated beliefs(especially since they varied depending on which audience you were in, and where in the country you lived)are what must go forward. Citizens have a right and a duty to participate in the workings of our government. Last I heard, McCain lost the election, although I agree with King Fiber that the nation is also losing a lot too.

  • Notre Dame Alumni Go After Donations, President Over Obama Invite

It's good to see that a few of the alumni are willing to hold the UND accountable to stated mission and beliefs. Unfortunately, it won't do much - unless they go after the athletic department. Already, the many more polite expressions of concern and outrage: petitions, vigils, area bishops boycotts and letters have not caused the University to do anything other than continue their rationalization.
