This story was written by a Huckabee supporter - they forgot to mention that Romney actually won the Values Voter strawpoll. Instead it was spun in a way that made it sound like Huckabee was the winner from the small number of people who were onsite voting. The author was also quick to detail Huckabee's endorsements from lesser known people and didn't mention that Romney's were HUGE endorsements from Moral Majority co-Founder Paul Weyrich and the Chancellor of Bob Jones University, Bob Jones III.
This is a two man race between Giuliani and Romney. Giuliani, though losing support in the early primary states has a strong national lead that won't go away. Romney is leading in 6 of the first 7 primary states. Can anyone really believe that Huckabee can lose Iowa, NH, and SC, and somehow still go on to beat the national Rudy powerhouse? If anyone has a chance, they will need to win the early states, where Romney is consistently leading.

I think this is an interesting debate and I can see both sides. If Christianity is simply defined by the existing protestant religions, then of course they will try to exclude Mormons and find some reason for doing so. On the other hand, if the word Christian is defined by the Bible, I think you will find that Mormons are Christians. Actually perhaps, Mormons may have more reason to argue that they are Christians and the protestant community is not, since they "believe" (whether or not it is true) that their faith was actually founded by Jesus Christ himself, and not just men who disagreed with Catholic teachings. To my knowledge, Catholics and Mormons are the only two major Christian denominations that even claim to originate "as a religion" directly passed down from the master himself, and not merely a philosophy or interpretation.
I appreciate the thoughts of Card in this article, that back when protestants broke off from Catholicism, they were the ones persecuted as heretics for not being a part of the "true" doctrine. Now Protestants are trying to do the same thing to Mormons, rather than embracing them in the points of doctrine that can be agreed upon - that Jesus is the Christ and Savior of the World, that only through Christ can mankind be saved, that we are all children of God, that the Bible is the word of God.
On our own we are little more than bits of stone and glass. Together we are the Body of Christ. Holy Bible: Mosaic is an invitation to experience Christ in His Word and in the responses of his people. Each week, as you reflect on guided Scripture readings aligned with the church seasons, you will receive a wealth of insight from historical and contemporary writings.
