Anglicans Add Hindu Snowmen, Chinese Dragon to Christmas Displays

Absolutely appalling cut and paste journalism. The story is way inaccurate.

The situation was that a group of Hindu schoolchildren came to the Abbey last weekend to be shown round by choristers, including a visit to the nativity crib. They brought along with them a couple of decorated snowmen, which were on the Westminster lawn for that day. There is no ongoing multicultural aspect to the nativity in Westminster - it is a standard crib.

The original story made no reference to the snowmen being part of the Westminster lawn nativity on an ongoing basis and certainly has nothing to do with a Chinese Dragon or Jewish Temple, whicha are related to stories elsewhere in the country.

Christian journalists need to stand up for integrity in their profession and not just repeat the lazy mistakes that's seen in so much web journalism these days. All this would have taken is a 3 minute phone call to the Press Office in Westminster Abbey to clarify the story and get accurate details.
