While some demons only are cast off with prayer and fasting,(Mk. 9:29), with regard to cases of possession, the priest exorcist would have no power to expel demons if the Church were not given its authority by Jesus Himself. Read Mt 16:13-19

When Jesus went into the region of Caesarea Philippi
